In the Summer of 2009, David Mauro and Nate Walker challenged themselves to create a company to address many of the inefficiencies they had seen first hand from their experience working on many political and non-profit campaigns. They joined with software engineer and web developer Aaron Figg, to launch Blue Roots Strategies, Inc. Blue Roots quickly became a one stop shop for all products and serv
ices needed by a political campaign. Blue Roots found early success designing the websites for some of Austin and Travis County's leading elected officials, including Mike Martinez, Eddie Rodriguez, Margaret Gomez and Amalia Rodriguez Mendoza. Blue Roots created an iPhone app for Mike Martinez, making him the first elected official in Texas to have his own app. Blue Roots soon earned accolades in general consulting on successful campaigns for County Commissioner Margaret Gomez, County Commissioner Sarah Eckhardt, and District Judge Amy Clark Meachum. On both Commissioner's campaigns, Blue Roots responsibilities included general consulting, direct mail and print design, field operations, online advertising buying and design, delivery of robocalls, targeting of all voter contact, hiring and management of campaign staff, media communications, and other facets of the campaign. In 2010 Blue Roots was the web vendor for the Back to Basics PAC, one of the most active Texas state PACs in the 2010 election cycle. Their work with Back to Basics included the development of over a dozen micro-sites, online advertisement design and the design of a full-page ad that ran in nearly every Texas daily newspaper. Leticia Van de Putte, the House Democratic Campaign Committee, the House Democratic Caucus and judicial candidate Efrain de la Fuente. Blue Roots is currently developing projects for State Rep. Joaquin Castro. In its short 2 years of service, Blue Roots has successfully worked with over 45 candidates, organizations, and political clients. Blue Roots plans to grow in 2011 by adding more staff and services so the 2012 elections will be successful.
