Please join us in recognizing Officers Colaianni and Frierson! Today, Assistant Chief Scott Perry was working when two APD patrol officers (Edward 200s) saved a person who had overdosed on drugs.

“I’m thankful for the honor of working patrol on this beautiful Thanksgiving morning in Austin, Texas, with some of the best cops in the country,” Asst. Chief Perry said. “Two of which just saved a life by administering Narcan to an adult that had overdosed on he**in. Shout out to Officer Colaianni and Officer Frierson for giving a stranger another chance at life. THIS is who we are.”

The Austin Police Department is mourning the loss of Senior Patrol Officer Lewis “Andy” Traylor who succumbed to injuries sustained during an on-duty motor vehicle crash over the weekend. On July 28, 2021 Officer Traylor was responding to a call for service when his police vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer making a U-turn. Interim Police Chief Chacon described the nine-year APD veteran as “an incredible officer, husband, father and friend and he will be missed by all of us." Rest In Peace, Officer Traylor. 💙

Thank you to all who have posted tributes to Officer Traylor, sent condolences and/or contributed funds to the Traylor family.
