Small Game Program - Texas Parks and Wildlife Providing the latest news on waterfowl, dove, quail, turkey and other small game in Texas.

The Small Game Program, with regional TPWD staff and other state and federal agencies, is responsible for managing an array of upland, waterfowl, and webless migratory game bird species and their habitats in Texas. The program works with conservation partners to help deliver on-the-ground conservation projects and programs focused on habitat restoration and management and helps guide research effo

rts. Additionally, the Small Game Program is responsible for overseeing statewide population surveys and making recommendations on annual hunting regulations.

Funding opportunity!

🌾 Funding is now available for grassland restoration projects in the Texas Panhandle!

The 2027 Texas Panhandle Grassland Restoration Incentive Program is now accepting proposals from eligible landowners looking to improve rangeland health, wildlife habitat, and livestock sustainability.

Funding is available for practices including:
🔥 Prescribed Fire
🌿 Brush Management
🌱 Range Planting
🦋 Pollinator Habitat

By restoring native grasslands, you’re investing in healthier working lands while supporting species like the Northern Bobwhite, Lesser Prairie-Chicken, grassland birds, and Monarch butterflies.

✅ 25-acre minimum
💰 Over $250,000 in funding available
📅 Application deadline: September 30, 2026
