Mourning the loss of trailblazer Gloria Steinem, a journalist, feminist, a fearless champion in exposing how sexual violence is deeply rooted in systems of power and control. Her decades of advocacy and writing helped break the silence around abuse, bringing national attention to issues survivors face every day. Her enduring legacy reminds us that true equality cannot exist until every person is safe in their own body.
“Dying seems less sad than having lived too little.”
― Gloria Steinem

Understanding your options after an assault matters. This month we are launching a series called ‘Survivor Rights September’ to inform you of your rights at each stage, based on the Your Rights as a Survivor (Adult) guide, created by the Office of the Governor Sexual Assault Task Force.
🩺Your Rights at the Medical Facility. At the medical facility, you have the right to compassionate care, decide what medical procedures you consent to, and choose whether or not to have forensic evidence collected. You are in control every step of the way.
📚 For the complete guide and additional tools, visit the Governor’s Sexual Assault Task Force resources.
You are Not alone.

It’s back to school time! Let’s talk about Title IX. 📚✨
Passed in 1972, this law prohibits sex-based discrimination in any federally funded school or program. It also provides protections if a student or staff member experiences harassment, abuse, or assault. Under Title IX, survivors of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking are guaranteed rights and support.
Know your campus resources, get familiar with your Title IX office, and know how to reach out if you or someone you know needs help. 💜

It's back to campus time! If you're a new student or a parent of a new student, this might be your first time coming across the term 'red zone.'
Understanding what it means is a key part of staying safe. The "red zone" refers to the period from college move-in to Thanksgiving break, when more than half of campus sexual assaults occur, leaving freshmen and new students especially vulnerable.
Remember to trust your gut, stick together, and know your resources.

It shouldn’t take a man speaking out for a woman for her to be believed.
Recent headlines featuring political figures Bernie Moreno and Max Miller have put domestic abuse in the public eye, with a sitting Senator calling out his former son-in-law only after watching the situation unfold from a position of familial proximity. But what about the countless survivors whose claims are ignored, doubted, or minimized every single day?
Survivors shouldn't need a father, a husband, or any other male to vouch for their reality so the world can take them seriously. When women speak out about abuse, harassment, or assault, their testimonies must be met with immediate belief, support, and trauma-informed justice.
Believe survivors the first time. Center their voices. 💜

This year’s World Day Against Trafficking in Persons theme, “Trapped Behind the Scam,” exposes a rapidly growing form of human trafficking that happens behind a computer screen. Around the world, individuals are lured by fake job offers, trafficked within their country or across borders, and forced to operate illegal online schemes.
Behind these fraudulent operations are people facing coercion, physical violence, and daily exploitation.
As we spend more and more time online it is important to stay safe. If you or someone you know needs help, call 911 or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888. 💙

Everyone’s been talking about Jimothy the raccoon this month, celebrating what makes him unique and embracing the beauty in differences.
As we honor Disability Pride Month, we must acknowledge that individuals with disabilities experience sexual assault at rates significantly higher than their non-disabled peers, while facing unique hurdles in accessing justice, trauma-informed care, and forensic services.
Advocacy means making our prevention work, our resources, and our safe spaces fully accessible to everyone.

If it looks like a Jimothy and it walks like a Jimothy, it’s probably a Jimothy.
