Today, we want you to meet Namuliisa Sarah, our safe house nurse.

Sarah is one of the first safe adults a rescued child meets when she enters our safe house. With her calm voice and a simple but powerful reassurance, “You’re safe now,” a child begins to feel seen and protected.

Trained in child-friendly and trauma-informed health care, Sarah provides a safe, predictable environment that minimizes re-traumatization and fosters resilience. As she conducts check-ups and administers medication, she reminds children that it’s possible for an adult to touch them without hurting them.

You can also be that safe adult a child needs. Check out our Reports & Educational Materials

All the children who come into our care have unique stories, but one thing always stands out: they arrive feeling afraid, alone, and overwhelmed.

They often feel like the world is against them and that they aren’t worth saving. But through our psychosocial approach and the love of their mentors, they begin to heal, find their courage, and gain confidence in the knowledge that they are loved and valued beyond their wildest imaginations.

Your support can help make healing possible for every child who walks through our doors. Give today and be part of restoring hope to a child.

A child may smile and still be carrying fear, trauma, and confusion inside.

It’s important to look beyond what is visible. At Rescue One More, we see beyond what is visible.
We understand that healing is more than just physical; it’s spiritual, emotional, and psychological.

Through our psychosocial approach we help children:
• Process their experiences
• Rebuild trust
• Find their voice again

Today, we stand for every child whose pain is unseen.

Not all wounds are visible.

For many children who experience violence, the deepest scars are carried in their minds.
Mental health is not separate from child protection. It is part of it.

At Rescue One More, we don’t just remove children from harm, we walk with them through healing, counseling, safe spaces, and with consistent care, we help children begin again.

True justice is not only about rescue. It is about restoration.

Rescue work isn’t glamorous.

It’s long hours. Hard conversations. Paperwork at midnight. Tears in the bathroom. Prayers between appointments. And showing up again tomorrow, because one more child still needs saving.

To our team — the ones who choose this work every single day — thank you.

We wouldn’t be here without you. Neither would they.

In Uganda, more than 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys experience child sexual violence. They all have unique stories; however, a child’s journey to safety begins when a child or concerned adult finds the courage to speak up.

For too long, silence has kept children hidden in pain, but when we break the silence, everything begins to change.

In Q1 2026, Rescue One More saw the impact of that change through the following outcomes:

• 95 new cases were supported
• 29 children were rescued from dangerous situations
85 children received trauma counseling
• 50 perpetrators were arrested
6 perpetrators were convicted
• 8,700+ people were reached through our prevention and awareness program.

This impact is only possible because people like you choose to care, speak up, and stand with us. Thank you for being part of the change.

At just 14 years old, Gertrude’s granddaughter was assaulted and left pregnant. The weight of that reality crashed down on her and her whole family, leaving them confused and unsure of what to do next.

But that confusion lifted when they were introduced to Rescue One More, where her granddaughter received the care and support she needed throughout her pregnancy.

Her whole family also went through counseling, and slowly, the fear they carried began to make room for hope.

Today, Gertrude and her family are grateful that someone showed up at the time they needed it most.

Stories like this are still unfolding all around us, be part of the fight to end sexual violence against children.

Imagine a child said these words to you.

Would you know how to respond? We hope so, because how you react and what you say could either open the door of healing or close it forever.

When a child speaks up:

▶️ Stay calm
▶️ Listen without interrupting
▶️ Let the child know you believe them and they didn’t do anything wrong
▶️ Take action, report to the police, and ensure the child is safe from the alleged perpetrator.

Did you know that about 1 in 10 Child Sexual Violence cases are never reported?

In Uganda, the law is clear: aggravated defilement carries a maximum sentence of death and defilement can lead to life sentence. Yet, the majority of child sexual violence cases never lead to justice.

That means many offenders walk free because children stay silent out of fear, pressure, or lack access to help.

It doesn’t have to stay this way, when a child reports or if you notice any sign of sexual violence against a child, report the case immediately.

Call the Uganda Child Helpline number: 116, or the police toll-free line: 0800-199-195.

“When suspects are got and victims are brought, for us to take them up to the final end of the justice system we must document whatever we do”_ Bob Ayo, Police Surgeon.

Through our Community Action Team model, we ensure law enforcement officers are trained on how to handle child sexual violence cases in a manner that ensures that when a child or an adult steps forward to report abuse, they are met with care, competence, and a system that is ready for them.

From report to conviction, every detail matters. Our police training equips officers with the knowledge and tools they need to handle sensitive cases with the precision and compassion each survivor deserves.

Together, we are building a justice system that protects the most vulnerable.
