Merry Meets and Blessed Beats

Merry Meets and Blessed Beats Community Drum Circle Events, Workshops, Classes and Private Events Held in the Aurora, IL region. Feel free to contact me for additional details.

Have you ever wished to discover your own Sacred Song and learn the basics of hand drumming, percussion, and rhythm? Here's your opportunity to do so in a small workshop format with other kindred spirits. Drum Circles and Hand Drumming, in various forms, have been around for thousands of years. The roots of rhythm and percussion are shared across all cultures from antiquity to the present. Rhythm,

Voice, Dance, and Ritual are common elements that are shared expressions within communities and cultures that are universal backbones or forms of cathartic spiritual, emotional or personal/group expressiveness. About Steve:

I've been active in local Drum Circles for 20+ years, as a student, participant, facilitator, teacher, and member of various social gatherings or groups. In July 2009, I founded "Merry Meets & Blessed Beats" (Now Fox Valley Drum Tribe) for the local Fox Valley regions. It's been a deeply personal and enriching experience for me and several others over the years. Email: [email protected]

My friend Kelsey Rankin asked me to pass this around the local LGBT community and those who are supportive. It's part of the Film Festival next month. It sounds like an awesome event and film fest.

Helping to spread the word for this.

En Algun Lugar - Playhouse 38 | Friday, March 9th 9:00 PM

Join us at the Geneva Film Festival Friday, 3/9 at 9pm at Playhouse 38 in Geneva for a screening of En Algun Lugar - MEET THE FILMMAKERS: Aric Jackson (producer), Tadeo Garcia (director), Andrew Saenz & Nelson Rodrigues (cast) will all be attending the 10th Annual Geneva Film Festival. Don't miss the opportunity to meet them and learn about the filmmaking process, and more about what inspired this film on an incredibly relevant issue of immigration.

Set against the background of a broken U.S. immigration system, En Algun Lugar is a love story between two young men, Abel & Diego. When tragedy strikes and Diego's immigration status is revealed, Abel and Diego discover the power of love during uncertain times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaWeP8G6wsk - Get tickets: http://bit.ly/2EOFA79

We continue to trudge our way towards our fundraising goal. If you’re coming to the parade, donate. If you can’t come, donate. If you can’t donate, volunteer. This is Aurora’s celebration.

The time has passed when we could be comfortable spectators. Now it is imperative we be active warriors to protect progressive beliefs!

Every amount helps.

We now have our Aurora Pride Parade permit (you might have heard!) and it's full steam ahead with fundraising! Here's the deal. We will accept any amount donated here for this amazing event. It doesn’t matter if you only have $5 or $500. Anything we collect will go into our parade fund. Monies n.....

**No expectations, arm bends** or such from any of you. If you're unable to toss a few bright coins in the hat, trust me I understand it (TIme's is tight, Money's Hard to come by).
