On behalf of the Aurora Fire Department, we would like to extend our greatest gratitude to all who came out and supported our annual fundraiser last night! As usual, silent auction and raffle were a success along with breaking a record for those who came out for the homemade chicken and noodle soup and chili.

Also would like to send a big shout out to Lonnie Newhall from IFA for coming out and presenting our Chief with his 20years of service recognition!
Our fundraisers would not be a success without all our volunteer members and spouses, kiddos, and community/ surrounding pulling together! We appreciate all of you!

It’s finally the week of our annual fundraiser. Some great items coming in for silent auction and raffle. Still time to donate something homemade, goodies, you name it! Just reach out to us here or to a department member

Hard to believe we are just starting into 2026. With that being said, February 21st 2026 is the date for our annual soup supper fundraiser.

We are taking donations for silent auction and raffle items. Know a small business that maybe interested in donating towards the event, reach out to a fire department member or simply send a message.
We look forward to the new year and seeing all that support our small community department

The wait is over! After months of planning and a busy morning of cooking, tonight is the big night!

Join us for our Annual Chili & Beef Stew Supper at the Buchanan County Fairgrounds 4H Building from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

Your free-will donation gets you an all-you-can-eat meal (or a convenient drive-thru option for those on the move!). We have a cash bar available this year as well. You can enjoy your favorite dish with your own ice cold "side dish" as well. We invite you to come for supper, stay and visit with friends and neighbors, and enjoy the great weather and a relaxing night!

🚜🌾 Harvest Safety Reminder: Prevent Field & Combine Fires 🌾🔥

Iowa’s fields are drying out and combines are rolling — that means it’s the perfect time to review fire prevention and safety practices before harvest is in full swing.

Dry conditions, low humidity, and high winds can all increase the risk of combine and field fires, which can lead to costly damage and even injuries.

✅ Top fire safety tips this harvest:

Keep your equipment clean — blow out filters and clear away plant debris daily.

Check coolant, oil, and fuel lines for leaks or wear.

Turn off your combine and wait 15 minutes before refueling.

Have two ABC fire extinguishers on hand (one in the cab, one at ground level).

Know your field’s 911 address and have a fire response plan in place.

🚨 If a fire does occur: turn off the engine, move to safety, call 911, and only attempt to extinguish the fire if it’s safe to do so. Remember, fires can double in size in under a minute.

A few minutes of prevention today can protect your equipment, your harvest, and your safety this fall. 🌽🍂
