Unfortunately there is no, “Books as Presents” this year.
I’ve been very ill, specifically with an Ear Infection that gave me Bell’s Palsy.
I’ll recover, but I don’t have the stamina or concentration to pull it off.

On a positive note, the library has been around long enough that people are calling it a tradition!
Regular steady donations continue to sustain it.
The Library is full and always open.

Considering readings with a child during Winter Break.

The Golden Oaks Little Free Library is looking for book donations.
We are looking for gently used Children's Books and Young Adult Books that can be passed on to other children in our Community.

Books as Treats has always been funded by Community Donations and is a "Zero Budget" Operation. If you are looking to get rid of some good condition children's books, please consider us!

For Martin Luther King Jr Day, I wanted to share a “Behind The Scenes” Post.

First, we received our First Donation of the Year!
I don’t name Benefactors and Donors to give them Privacy.
You know who you are, and we appreciate you!

I have 18 Milk Crates.
When they are empty, I need Books!
When they are full, we are at Capacity!

January through August we accept Children and Young Adult Books.
September we prepare for Halloween, our Biggest Day of the Year.
Books not given away at “Books as Treats” are wrapped as Presents.
“Books as Presents” runs from December until… MLK Jr Day.

As a Day of Service.
On MLK Jr Day, we take the remaining book donations and distribute them across Aurora’s Little Free Libraries.

The last two years, because of the frigid temperatures, we’ve bumped the Distribution to a warmer weekend.

This is, “The Loop.”
We’ve been doing it for about Seven Years.
Donations by “Readers Like You” make this a Zero Budget Operation that actually works!

“Books as Presents” is LIVE!

We have about 200 books, wrapped as presents. Consider these a Stocking Stuffer or a supplemental present to fill the space under the tree.
All of these books are left over from “Books as Treats.”

The Lowest Level is, “Read with Child.”
The Middle Section is, “Chapter Books.”
The Upper Section is, “Young Adult.”

We’re kind of One Trick Pony.
The whole year builds up to this giveaway.
We will follow it up with Books as Presents!
Giving away wrapped books as Stocking Stuffers to fill space under the tree.

The Weather Matters.
The Wind was brutal.
Our numbers may be lower than previous years, but it doesn’t matter.
The totals help me gauge what to collect during the year.

There are kids that travel here for a book.
It’s exciting to watch these kids grow up.
This grassroots event is funded by Donations from Readers like You!

Our numbers our smaller, but more realistic this year.
We’ve got 900 books and 200 Comics.

Every year I say, “We logistically can’t move more.”

The new floor should resolve some bug and humidity issues.
