Greener Communities, Brighter Futures!

Last Saturday, a group of recent graduated Natural Helpers and community volunteers gathered together to cleanup Montview Park and removed dead trees from our recent Arbor Day planting event. During this stewardship day our volunteers learnt about tree watering and also about the Emerald Ash Borer that is putting a risk to our ash trees. At the end of the activity our park and creek look better and more welcoming!

Thank you for joining us!

We were honored to welcome the 2026 National Asian and Pacific Islander American Historic Preservation Forum to Colorado—and especially to Aurora!

The Historic & Emerging Neighborhoods Tour brought participants to Aurora for a meaningful look at our diverse community. The group enjoyed lunch at Seoul BBQ, visited M Mart Shopping Center, which will receive a Cultural District designation, and explored other businesses along the Havana Business Improvement District.

The tour also included a visit to Aurora’s recently dedicated Korean War Memorial, followed by a final stop at the Aurora History Museum, where we shared the history of the Mosaic of Cultures exhibit series and enjoyed the current exhibit highlighting Aurora’s Filipino community.

Thank you to the APIAHCP Forum for visiting Aurora and learning about our community!

And kudos to the Havana Business Improvement District, Koreatown, and Aurora History Museum for organizing such a meaningful visit and helping showcase Aurora’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

Last Friday, we were pleased to host the Mexican Independence Ceremony (El Grito) at Aurora City Hall. Mayor Mike Coffman, Mayor Pro Tem Alison Coombs, and Ambassador Pavel Melendez, Consul General of Mexico in Denver led this important civic ceremony. The Consulate General of Mexico, Amigos de Mexico, and OIIA co- hosted this traditional community reception that included a festive mariachi band, beautiful dancers, great music, and delicious Mexican food. Special thanks to all sponsors for making this event a total success.
