The Aurora Police Department would like to recognize Officer Adam Burd , along with EMT's Devin Bowling and Trenton Martin who received the Indiana State Medal of Valor award last night.

The Medal of Valor recognizes Indiana first responders for exceptional bravery, risking their lives above and beyond the call of duty in acts of public service.

The award stems from an incident that occurred in August of 2025, where first responders were dispatched to a working structure fire. Upon arrival it was reported there was a victim trapped inside the residence. Without hesitation Officer Burd, EMT's Trentman and Bowling were able to make entry into the residence and remove the victim from the burning building.

The victim Arnold Lanthrop was transported to a hospital where he recovered from his injuries. Arnold was present at last nights ceremony.

We are extremely proud of all three individuals and their acts of heroism on that day.

The Aurora Police Department would like to honor the veterans among us — Officer Kevin Siegel, U.S. Navy, and Officer Bryce Abner, U.S. Army. We deeply appreciate your dedication and commitment to serve others.

The Aurora Police Department has launched a new drone program.

Thanks to the City of Aurora Redevelopment Committee, we were able to purchase a drone with thermal capabilities. Lieutenant Clint Holmstrom, and Detective Vernon Mcbride attended the FAA flight training and are now certified drone pilots. The drone will aid us during criminal investigations, surveillance, searches and rescues. We are extremely grateful to the redevelopment committee as this project would not have been completed without their generosity. We are excited to implement this program and look forward to better serving the citizens of Aurora.
