It's been a difficult few weeks for the fire service. The loss of a brother or sister firefighter is felt far beyond their own department and it impacts the entire fire service family.

Throughout these challenging times, Augusta Fire has continued to show respect and support. We are grateful for the strength, compassion, and professionalism that has been demonstrated in honoring those we've lost and supporting those left behind.

FFs Soukup, Currier, Marshall, Billington and O'Hare pay respects and support at the wake for Morrill Firefighter Andrew Cross.

FF Morton, FF O'Hare and FF Marshall who are part of our Honor Guard made the trip to Boston to pay respects and show support for Boston Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr.

We keep all affected departments, families and friends in our thoughts.

Augusta Fire-Rescue wants to recognize EMS Week 2026 and the men and women who show up when everything is uncertain.

While most people are starting their day, heading home, or asleep at night, EMS professionals are walking into living rooms, roadside scenes, and moments that most never see. They bring their skills into chaos and calmness into urgency on any scence that change in a moments notice.

It’s not just the calls people remember, it’s everything in between. The quick resets at the station, the quiet drives back after tough scenes, the teamwork that doesn’t need words, and the commitment to do it all again on the next call.

EMS is more than a service, it’s a presence our community relies on at its most vulnerable moments.

To all EMS professionals, thank you for the work you do when it’s hardest, longest, and most unseen. Your impact reaches further than you’ll ever hear back.

A special thank you all of crew here at AFD. You all are appreciated!

Our hearts are heavy at Augusta Fire-Rescue.

Today’s incident in Searsmont is something no department ever wants to face. We have joined multiple mutual aid partners in sending crews to assist however we can during this heartbreaking and ongoing situation.

Fire and EMS is a brotherhood and sisterhood built on trust, sacrifice, and showing up for one another when it matters most.

Our thoughts are with the Town of Searsmont, all responding and affected departments, the families and friends impacted, Robbins Lumber and the entire community.

We stand with you, today and always.

Two years have passed since Retired Battalion Chief Guimond left us, but his presence and impact on Augusta Fire-Rescue are still felt here at the station.

Chief Guimond dedicated 34 years to our department with his leadership, and commitment to the City of Augusta.

Time may pass, but he is not forgotten. His stories are still shared, and laughter is still had thinking about Danny.

We remember Retired Battalion Chief Guimond with respect, gratitude, and honor. He will always remain a part of the Augusta Fire family.

May you Rest in Peace Chief Guimond.

From all of us at Augusta Fire-Rescue, we want to recognize how vital nurses are.

Nurses are often the ones with the calm voices in the most critical moments. They are there when families are scared, when seconds matter, and when compassion is just as important as medical care. Their knowledge, and dedication make a real difference in every patient’s outcome.

We see firsthand how important their work is and we are truly grateful for the care, commitment, and heart they bring every single day.

A special thank you and appreciation goes out to 4 of our own who also hold the nurse roll as well.

Deputy Chief Leach
Battalion Chief Dunbar
FF/Medic Beaudoin
FF/Medic Moore

We also want to thank all of our significant others who are nurses as well. We appreciate you.

Thank you to Bill and his family for 21 years of dedication to our department. May he rest in peace.
