It was wonderful to attend Maine Health Care Association's 23rd annual Remember ME event this morning. This wonderful event honors the lives and contributions of residents in Maine's assisted living and residential care facilities. Two Waterville residents were recognized at this years Remember ME Ceremony.

Joan Rodrigue, a resident of Sunset Home of Waterville, was honored for her lifelong love of music, adventure and community. A race car driver, golfer, guitarist, songwriter and gifted yodeler, Joan shared her talents across Central Maine and beyond, leaving a lasting impression wherever she performed.

Joseph Alphonse “Alphy” Poulin, a resident of Mount Joseph at Waterville, was honored for his extraordinary life in dance. From Augusta to the Boston Ballet, Europe, New York City and Juilliard, Alphy built a remarkable career as a dancer, choreographer, teacher and ballet master, inspiring generations with his discipline, talent and joy.

Yesterday, I attended the annual Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Ceremony where we honored the brave law enforcement professionals who have died in the line of duty.

Later in the day, I learned of the tragic passing of Game Warden Joshua Tibbets. My thoughts are with Joshua's family, the Warden Service and law enforcement officers around the state during this difficult time.

Moments like this remind us never to forget the risks our law enforcement officers face and the sacrifices they make every day to protect and serve our communities.
