In August of 2007 a group of students from their various Richmond County middle schools came together as freshmen of the Thomas Walter Josey Comprehensive High School. To their knowledge, they would be commencing their journeys as ordinary high school students, but little did they know, they would be commencing the four-year journey that would soon birth "Eagles of a Greater Excellence." Over the
years, some came, some left, they even witnessed their share of tragic losses, but still they rose to the occasion. There were good times, and challenging times - times of disagreement and misunderstanding, but still they rose to the occasion. Many said what they couldn't and wouldn't do, what they would be and would not be, but still they rose to the occasion. On May 23, 2011 at the hour of 5:30 in the evening, they stood together, walked together, cried together and celebrated together ONE LAST TIME as STUDENTS of the T. Josey High School, and at the end of that day, each and every one of them departed from one another with their various diplomas and, instead of saying, "So long, farewell, or good-bye," they said things like, "see you soon, see you later, and best wishes!" It was no surprise to the families and friends, Richmond County Board members, various teachers and other dignitaries that together, students of the class received well over 1.5 Million dollars in scholarships and grants, nor was it a surprise that over half of the class graduated with distinction! They rose from "Eagles of a Greater Excellence," to "THE Eagles of THE Greater Excellence." They dedicate their future success in society to the words of their Alma Mater, "When we have gone away, out in the world alone, still we shall work for Josey and to thee honor bring." All hail the Alumni Class of 2011.
