Eureka! This is what responsive planning looks like.

It was 7pm Friday, probably 95 degrees, and the forecast for Sunday is calling for heat plus a strong chance of rain. Augusta Recreation & Parks, along with promotional partners at iHeartMedia, made an early announcement about the upcoming **Candlelight Music Series All White Party Finale**. 48 hours in advance.

The finale has been **postponed to Sunday, September 13**.

That is good news.

Over the past couple of weeks, so many of you have been part of a thoughtful community conversation about outdoor concerts, weather decisions, communication, indoor or covered options, affordability, artists, sponsors, and what it takes to keep live music going.

This early announcement matters because it gives people time to plan. It respects the audience, the artists, the vendors, the sponsors, and everyone who has to make decisions before heading out.

As of now, I have not seen plans to reschedule the previous cancellations, but this is still a meaningful step forward. The people — yes, YOU GUYS — made your voices heard.

Due to expected inclement weather, the All White Party Finale of the 2026 Candlelight Music Series has been postponed to Sunday, September 13.

We know many of you were looking forward to celebrating the end of the series with us, and we are too. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the evening safely and comfortably, so moving the event to next Sunday is the best choice.

The good news: the party is still on! Wear your favorite white attire, bring your chairs and picnic baskets, and join us for live music from ChaVonne Campbell & Tresounds at the Augusta Exchange Club Fairgrounds.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you Sunday, September 13.

Let’s bring the artists into the conversation.

Candlelight Music is a series, but each performance also has its own audience. Some people come every week, and some people come because they follow a specific artist or band.

So when weather, location, or timing becomes uncertain, the performer’s communication matters too.

If your fans are coming because of you, what do you need in order to keep them informed and confident?

Augusta jazz collective L4 is partnering with the Jessye Norman School to launch Sound & Color, a monthly event blending live music, visual art and audience interaction.

Organizers hope the series will create new opportunities for local artists while contributing to a creative revival in downtown Augusta.
