Meet A Presenter

About the Presenter:
Susan Lamoreau has spent her entire teaching career working for the Sanford School Department. For the first 26 years, she taught a variety of courses in the high school business department. She then transitioned to Sanford Regional Technical Center where she created the Academy of Business program that reaches out to eight partner schools in Southern Maine. Her program is dually enrolled with both Thomas College and York County Community College where her students can earn up to 18 college credits over two years. Susan was one of two educators recognized Educator of the Year in 2025. She has testified on behalf of financial education for all Maine students and was instrumental in bringing the financial literacy requirement for all students in Sanford. Her students just participated in the the Teen Teach In program for a second year in a row reading to elementary school students about financial education.

Session: Let's Move with Financial Fundamentals
Sitting in a traditional classroom and reviewing key terms and lesson concepts can be a bit monotonous for students. It can be for adults, too. NGPF has a great unit on Paying for College that includes a supplemental activity that gets the students out of their seats and engaged through a Financial Aid Fundamental Scavenger Hunt. This activity is a great way to review at the end of a unit to prepare for an assessment and it can get a little competitive, too.
