Today, make one change to cut out distractions:

Put your phone on Do Not Disturb.

Set your playlist and navigation before you drive.

Ask passengers to help you watch the road, not show you their phone.

Small changes add up to safer roads for everyone.

Something big is rolling through this weekend in Augusta! On Sunday, May 31 at 7 AM, a house will be making its way down Western Ave from Chapel Street, through the Memorial Circle rotary, and will land at Chandler Street. Local road closures will be in place for about an hour with Augusta PD managing traffic and detours. Please plan ahead, follow posted signs, and allow extra travel time. Thanks for your patience as crews work to safely complete this unique move!

Work is moving along on the Union Branch Multiuse Pathway in Portland. Shaw Brothers crews are placing base gravel, completing compaction testing, removing fencing along Deering Oaks Park, and building a new biocell retention pond.

This project will bring a new paved pathway, pedestrian lighting, drainage upgrades, and a two-lane paved biking trail, with completion expected in November 2026.

The 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day are the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers.

With more time on the road, inexperience, distraction, speeding, and impaired driving all contribute to increased crash risks.

Talk to your teen about safe driving because safe choices can save lives.

Communication on the road is essential. Riders and cyclists use hand signals to indicate turns, stops, and hazards, especially if lights fail. Among bikers, two fingers pointed toward the road is the traditional “biker wave,” meaning “keep two wheels on the ground” and wishing fellow riders a safe journey. Know these signals, stay alert, and always prioritize safety while riding and driving.
