Hard surface roads are partially covered and slick this morning. Gravel roads have small drifts and snow laying in areas sheltered from the wind. Blowing snow in isolated areas is reducing visability. Plows are coming out at 6 a.m. and graders at 7:30. Drive safe.

03/16/2026

Plows will be going out at 6am to start working on highways. Gravel roads will be assessed in the AM to see if graders will head out on the gravel.

A look at the NWS forecast. Snow forecasted totals are mixed and still changing as this storm sets up for Sunday into Monday. The one thing that seems to be consistent is the wind, no matter the snowfall totals the wind will blow. Reduced visibility and drifting back in once cleared are our biggest challenges during these types of events. We will monitor the weather and the roads and get out on them as soon as possible. Here is a look at what is headed our way. Plows will stay out till 6pm tonight and clear what we can if significant snow amounts are present. We will evaluate the situation tomorrow morning and determine the snow removal process based on overnight totals. We will keep you updated to road conditions and snow removal as they develop.

Accumulating snowfall will spread across much of Iowa from this afternoon and evening into tonight. A swath of heavy snow is expected from parts of western Iowa, through central and north central Iowa, and into northeastern Iowa. Within this heavy snow band, hazardous travel impacts are anticipated. Stay tuned to the latest forecast updates today!
