Tonight, your Auburn Firefighters took the opportunity to train side by side with our mutual aid partners from Candia Fire Rescue, drilling on auto extrication.

Multiple different tools and techniques were used to cut the vehicles, simulating an entrapped victim.

Auburn Fire and Candia Fire are often operating together at motor vehicle accidents on Route 101, so having the opportunity to train with them directly and utilize the capabilities from both departments simultaneously was invaluable.

Yesterday, the Auburn Fire Department partnered with Brian Croteau, Milestone CPR, to host a Hands Only CPR training at the Safety Complex as part of the NH CPR Challenge.

This statewide training creates awareness and empowers bystanders to take lifesaving steps prior to EMS arrival. Remember you only need to know two steps. Step 1 – Call 911 and Step 2 – Push hard and fast.

Thank you to all who attended the training and the Department members who assisted. Great job everyone!

What Is the CPR Challenge?

The NH CPR Challenge is a bipartisan initiative by New Hampshire's five Executive Councilors to train as many Granite Staters as possible in Hands-Only CPR during EMS Week 2026 (May 17–23).

Each Executive Council district is competing to see who can train the most people. All trainings are completely free and take just 15–20 minutes. No prior experience is needed.

The goal: give every New Hampshire resident the confidence to act if they witness a cardiac arrest. You don't need to be a medical professional—you just need to know two steps.

Learn life-saving Hands-Only CPR in just 15 minutes during EMS Week 2026. Free trainings across all five NH Executive Council districts. No experience needed.

Crews stayed busy yesterday as Auburn firefighters responded to multiple brush fires across the area.

Around 3PM, companies were dispatched to Hooksett Road for a large area of brush burning. A Candia Fire Rescue forestry was also requested. While operating on that incident, additional resources were requested to assist Deerfield with a 5th alarm brush fire.

A strong example of teamwork and mutual aid across departments to keep our communities protected.

International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) is observed on Monday, May 4, 2026, to honor the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of firefighters worldwide. Established to recognize those who risk their lives to protect communities and the environment, this day falls on the feast day of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters.

It serves to honor firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice and to thank those who continue to serve.

It is a time for education on fire safety and support for mental health and resources for firefighters.
