AUBURN POLICE DEPARTMENT – 2025 AWARDS BANQUET
Last Friday evening, the Auburn Police Department gathered to celebrate our team and reflect on the accomplishments and exceptional work done in 2025. This annual event is our opportunity to pause, reconnect, and honor the professionalism, dedication, and commitment demonstrated every day by the men and women of this agency.

As Chief Jason Moen shared so perfectly:
“Tonight is one of my favorite events of the year. In policing, we spend a lot of time dealing with problems…we don’t always take enough time to stop and recognize the incredible work being done every single day by the people in this organization. Tonight gives us that opportunity.

The awards presented this evening recognize exceptional accomplishments, acts of courage, outstanding service, leadership, professionalism, and commitment to our community. But what I hope everyone remembers is that these awards represent much more than individual achievements. They represent teamwork. Every accomplishment we celebrate tonight is built upon the efforts of an entire team working together toward a common mission.”

We are proud of our officers, staff, and the community partners who support us, especially Steve Pray and the incredible team at Hammond Lumber Company, who so generously make this event possible for our employees each year.

Congratulations to all who were recognized — your hard work and dedication continue to make Auburn a safer, stronger community.

Join us in congratulating Officer John Nguyen, who graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy’s 49th Basic Law Enforcement Training Program today.

John was born and raised in Vietnam and moved to California shortly after graduating high school. John proudly served six years in the United States Army National Guard, spending most of that time deployed overseas.

John was honorably discharged in 2024 and currently serves in the Army Reserves as a Military Police Officer. In 2020, he earned his United States citizenship, a milestone he deeply values.

During his military service, John met his wife, Katarzyna, while stationed in Poland. They have a son, Alexander.

Benny Bud is sporting his official Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run (for Special Olympics) t-shirt today...because the torch is headed this way! 🔥

Runners from the Auburn Police Department will receive the torch from the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office at around 1:00PM today (6/40 on Minot Avenue, near Coleman's Collision. Team APD will carry the torch along Minot Avenue to the rotary, and down Court Street. We will hand the torch off to the runners from Lewiston Maine Police Department in the middle of the Longley Bridge.

Motorists should expect slight delays as runners make their way through the city. PLEASE slow down and give the team lots of room to safely carry the torch to its next destination. If you happen to be along the route, be sure to cheer us on! 🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏼‍➡️🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️🔥
