Chewacla State Park-Alabama Official page of Chewacla State Park. The park is conveniently located on the I-85 corridor.

The park features first-class mountain bike trails complete with dirt and wooden design features for intermediate and advanced riders. CAMP (Central Alabama Mountain Peddlers) manages the bike trails and is the home base for their organization. We also have a Nature Center, providing environmental education to all of our guests. You can visit the Nature Center during operating hours to see our wid

e range of animal ambassadors. We also host weekly events that can be found here on our page as well as on our website. The current Nature Center and park operating hours are :

Join us at Chewacla State Park for a guided nighttime walk around the Nature Center as we search for glowing spider eyes and all things that glow in the night. This program is perfect for all ages! Flashlights will be provided, but feel free to bring your own to explore.

Still want to join us for a hike to Chewacla's Hidden Falls? Come with us tomorrow, May 23, at 3 PM for an exciting adventure to one of our most beautiful spots! This hike will be about a 2.5-mile trip, with some steep terrain. Please wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes and bring your water! We'll be meeting in the first parking lot loop on the right to begin.

Due to weather, the May 23 BARK Ranger program has been cancelled and rescheduled for June 20.

Join us at Chewacla State Park with your dog for BARK Rangers on May 23, 2026! We’ll be meeting at the Nature Center Outdoor Classroom at 2 PM. We’ll share the BARK Ranger guidelines, go on a short walk together, and then all dogs will receive a certificate!

Explore nature journaling at Chewacla State Park on May 23, 2026! This Nature Journaling Club will meet at the Nature Center Outdoor Classroom and is designed for participants to journal, reflect, and document the changing seasons, while learning more about themselves and the park around them. Any experience level is welcome, whether you are brand-new or a seasoned pro! During each session, we’ll take a quick nature walk together for inspiration, complete an exercise to immerse ourselves in nature, and then begin our journaling at Chewacla!

We’ll be learning about the different wildlife in Alabama through this interactive program by showing track, s**t, and bone replicas. All participants will get to make their own clay animal track to take home!
