We are happy to introduce the work of Dmitrii Patapov at our Auburn Cheryl Sallee Gallery, on view September 2nd โ€“ November 4th, 2026!

โ€œMy artistry is an ever-present journey, persisting regardless of my location or activity. It's an unending pursuit to translate my vision onto the canvas. The realism at the core of my work often clashes with the evolving trends in art. I am captivated by the natural world, its awe-inspiring phenomena, the play of light, the spectrum of colors, and the variety of textures. My aim is to illuminate the simple yet profound elements of our surroundings that often go unnoticed. I strive to capture these elements in such a way that the paint transcends its material form, and the canvas breathes life into its own unique space.โ€ - Dmitrii Patapov

We are eager to introduce the work of Laura Hoppenjans at the Community Center Gallery, on view August 27 โ€“ November 5, 2026!

Laura Hoppenjans (she/they), is an artist and designer based in Seattle, WA. Interested in traditional techniques and labor, her work is influenced by the histories of gendered work and the intersection of traditional craft, design, and pop culture. Her vessels use traditional shapes to explore the political weight of domestic objects and the often-overlooked labor associated with them. She started working in ceramics in 2019, and has exhibited in the US and abroad. For more information, visit Laura's website at hopandjans.com and on Instagram at Laura Hoppenjans || HOP & JANS studio!

We are pleased to present the work of Sandra Penney at the Community Center Gallery, on view August 27 โ€“ November 5, 2026!

โ€œFor the last ten years, printmaking has been at the heart of my creative life. Iโ€™m drawn to the medium because itโ€™s both structured and meditative. In reduction and relief, monoprint, and monotype work, each carve, brayer roll, and layer of ink leaves a visible trace that cannot be erased. Whether Iโ€™m carving intentionally or working more spontaneously, every print becomes a way for me to explore how inner and outer worlds meet.

My reduction and relief hand-pulled prints focus on the natural world, narrative, place, and memory. I usually start with my own photos and drawings, using them as anchors while I build color and detail through careful carving and responsive inking. I often work in variable editionsโ€”where each print has a different color pathwayโ€”inviting viewers into rich, atmospheric landscapes shaped by both observation and emotion.โ€

Sandra (S.E.) Penney currently teaches printmaking at the Kirkland Arts Center in Kirkland, WA. She is a prize-winning artist whose work has shown in local, national and international juried exhibitions. This exhibition contains artworks from her Her in the Here, Come December and Summoning Proserpina collections. More information can be found on her website www.sandrapenney.com and you can find her on Instagram Sandra Penney!
