✨The September Car Of The Month ✨

Introduced in 1932, Auburn’s new V-12 brought impressive power to the road, while the Custom Series added refined touches like extra chrome, a walnut instrument panel, broadcloth upholstery and a dual-ratio rear differential for easier driving.

This Auburn has another remarkable story: it passed through the hands of just four owners over 93 years before being donated to ACDAM by Ron and Betsy Thomas.

Even its restoration has a connection to the Museum—the car’s factory-correct Saxon Grey, Cedric Brown and Ravenswood Brown paint scheme was restored using ACDAM’s original 1932 Auburn 12-160A as a reference.

Before the influencer. Before the Instagram post. There were the auto show models. ✨🚗

In the glamorous world of the 1930s automobile show, the cars weren't the only attraction. Luxury manufacturers understood that they weren't simply selling automobiles, they were selling a lifestyle. Speed. Elegance. Fashion. Modernity. And, of course, a little glamour.

Auburns and Cords were some of the most distinctive automobiles of their era, and the company's advertising frequently paired its innovative cars with beautifully dressed women and imagery of luxury and sophistication. While surviving records don't give us a definitive list of the women who modeled alongside these automobiles at the major auto shows of the 1920's and 30s, the connection between them, Hollywood, fashion and high society is unmistakable. The women pictured alongside these automobiles weren't simply decoration. They helped communicate an idea of who these cars were for and what owning one represented.

The automobile wasn't just the star of the show. It was the ticket to a whole new world. Honestly? That's not so different from how we market cars today😉

The Cord L-29 was radically different from most cars of the era.

It helped establish Cord’s reputation for innovation and distinctive styling 🙌 Sleek, low-slung design, and it was the first American production car to use front-wheel drive successfully at scale, though there were earlier American FWD production attempts.

Nearly a century later, the L-29 is beautiful, but more than that, it’s a testament to innovation and distinctive design ✨
