🌽 County Farm Demonstration Plot Update! 🌱

It’s been a busy and productive few weeks at the DeKalb County SWCD County Farm Demonstration Plots!

✅ Brechbill Farms harvested the remaining corn from plots 2, 4, and 6 today.
✅ The Indiana DNR joined us on-site to help get our cover crops planted.
✅ We completed planting cover crops on plots 2, 3, 4, and 5!

🌾 What’s Growing:
• Plots 2 & 4: Cereal Rye
• Plots 3 & 5: Annual Ryegrass

A huge thank-you to Brechbill Farms and the Indiana DNR for their help and partnership in keeping this demonstration project moving forward! These plots will help us continue learning and sharing the benefits of conservation practices that improve soil health and water quality across DeKalb County.

In addition, Molargik Farms helped us earlier this fall by flying on cover crops on September 17:
• Plot 6: Crimson Clover, Barley, and Radish
• Plot 7: Winter Peas, Triticale, and Rapeseed

Earlier in the season, on August 11, we also established two additional demonstration mixes:
• Plot 8: 6-way mix – Oats, Annual Ryegrass, Crimson Clover, Winter Peas, Radish, and Rapeseed
• Plot 9: 7-way mix – VNS Oats, Black Oats, Barley, Pearl Millet, Buckwheat, Sorghum Sudan, and Peredovic Sunflower 🌻
