Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Indiana We are a faith-based organization whose mission is to eliminate sub-standard housing.

Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Indiana, serving DeKalb, Noble & Steuben counties, is an ecumenical Christian ministry that provides affordable housing in the community for those in need, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. We build houses for families in need of housing through volunteer labor, management expertise and tax-deductible donations of money and materials. These h

ouses are then sold at no profit to partner families at a no-interest mortgage over a fixed period. Partner families are selected from applications and contribute 500 hours of sweat equity in working on their own homes or other homes or for non-profit organizations.

We got two ramps done today! I can’t give enough appreciation to all of our volunteers that made this happen. We may be done after the first of the year, but we are still going to continue changing lives!

The outpouring of responses makes our hearts happy. In addition to the houses, the ramps, we have also been responsible for $2.1M dollars in grants for low income homeowners over the past five years. I can’t believe I forgot to mention this accomplishment. We are honored we could provide these services to our communities.

While we may be dissolving at the end of the year, we still are committed to changing lives! We partnered with NeighborLink of DeKalb county to change this homeowners life! Through the smiles and gratitude expressed, she kept saying “I don’t have to worry about steps anymore!” These volunteers are true Angels here on Earth!

Join us on October 25 for our free Resource Fair for unhoused individuals at the Carnegie Public Library. Attendees will be provided with a meal, care package, health insurance enrollment assistance and more!

Our Utility Assistance program (also known as EAP) is now accepting applications for the 2026 program year. Applications can be submitted for assistance with the primary heating fuel through April 20, 2026. If you are up for disconnect, please reach out to your utility company and your township trustee.

Another llfe changing ramp down in the books. They had a ramp, but it had fallen into disrepair. I just couldn’t post what it looked like before. It was sad. These amazing volunteers changed that in record time. Than you all for taking the time and making a difference!
