We are a combination department made up of 42 men and women dedicated to serving our community. The AHFD covers 17.5 square miles with three fire stations. In addition to our 22,000 residents, we serve a day time population that soars to almost 100,000, more than 20,000 students at Oakland University, and millions of annual visitors to the Great Lakes Crossing Outlet mall. In 2019 we responded to 3,906 incidents. In addition to responding to all hazards, we provide transporting Advanced Life Support EMS. We look forward to sharing information and communicating with our community through our new social media page

The Auburn Hills Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to JR Automationfor inviting us to participate in their 3rd Annual Pinewood Derby! We were thrilled to join the fun—and even more excited to bring home the win!
Captain Bryan Shambeck and the “Red Rocket” took first place out of 37 entries, earning AHFD the top spot in this year’s competition! The event was filled with friendly competition, great camaraderie, and, a delicious potluck lunch.
A great time was had by all, and we truly appreciate the staff at J.R. Automation for their gracious invitation and warm hospitality. We look forward to racing again next year!

A Message from our City Manager:

Fire Millage Approved by Voters
THANK YOU to the Auburn Hills Community

Asking for a tax increase is not something we take lightly. We are very serious about the way in which we utilize the dollars that our residents and businesses provide to us through their taxes. That is why we are grateful and appreciative that voters have entrusted us with additional funds to operate the fire department by approving the two ballot proposals on August 4. This year was the first year that the existing fire department millage did not cover its expenses. And the deficit caused by this shortfall was only going to grow year after year, a serious issue that had to be addressed. By approving the millage increase, the city administration and City Council will fulfill its promises to you to work diligently toward improving response times, to rely less on our neighbors to answer our calls for service, to add an additional three Paramedics, to place into service an additional ambulance, invest in equipment purchases and upgrades, and eliminate the fire department deficit. Yes, this will all be done with the passage of the new millage. You have our word.
