This Hispanic Heritage Month, we're celebrating something powerful: the culture, contributions, and drive of the Latino community.

This September, 7 Latin American nations celebrate their independence 🇨🇷🇸🇻🇬🇹🇭🇳🇳🇮🇲🇽🇨🇱:

📅 Sep 15 — Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras & Nicaragua
📅 Sep 16 — Mexico
📅 Sep 18 — Chile

But this celebration goes beyond dates. The U.S. Latino economy is now worth $3.6 trillion — the 5th largest in the world — and Latino-owned businesses contribute over $800 billion of it every year. 📈

Behind every one of those businesses is a story of heritage, resilience, and ambition. That's the community we're proud to champion every single day at the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. 🤝

Building New Partnerships with the Fred and Barbara Erb Family Foundation.

We are excited to begin this new journey with the Erb Family Foundation, and we hope it will be the first of many opportunities to connect, collaborate, and build meaningful partnerships.

Mark Moreno and Erandi Arredondo attended this first session as part of the MHCC family and connected with leaders from diverse nonprofit and cultural organizations to exchange ideas and explore new opportunities to strengthen our work and create greater impact in the community.

Stronger businesses. Stronger communities. A more resilient Michigan.

We’re proud to share the next chapter in the Michigan Hispanic Fund’s work supporting Hispanic entrepreneurs across Southeast Michigan.

With the support and partnership of the Fred and Barbara Erb Family Foundation and in collaboration with People First Economy, we will launch the Mercado Resilience Cohort, a three-year initiative designed to help Hispanic-owned businesses strengthen the foundations
of their companies while building greater long-term resilience.

The program will bring together business fundamentals, workforce well-being, operational resilience, and sustainability, helping entrepreneurs put people, planet, and profit into practice as interconnected drivers of business success.

Over the next three years, we’ll learn alongside business owners, our partners, and the broader ecosystem as we build and refine a model designed around the realities, opportunities, and ambitions of Hispanic entrepreneurs.

Thank you to the Fred and Barbara Erb Family Foundation and People First Economy for partnering with us in this work.

This is just the beginning. We look forward to sharing the businesses, stories, lessons, and impact that come next.

The Michigan Hispanic Fund is the nonprofit arm of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Through this grant, a three-year Mercado Resilience Cohort will launch and close a gap in how small businesses are supported. Sustainability and employee wellbeing are usually treated as separate from business strategy. This grant builds both into strategy for Hispanic-owned businesses, in partnership with existing Foundation partner People First Economy.

Through the Mercado Resilience Cohort, we will help business owners strengthen the fundamentals of their companies while integrating strategies that support their people, improve operational resilience, and position their businesses for sustainable growth. Over the next three years, we hope to build and refine a model that not only strengthens individual businesses, but contributes to a stronger and more resilient Michigan economy.” Mark A. ⛳ What an incredible day on the course!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the MHCC 35th Annual Golf Outing at Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center! 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️

We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, partners, and supporters who helped make this year’s outing such a success. From a great day of golf to networking, friendly competition, and plenty of fun along the way, it was wonderful to see our MHCC community come together.
