25 years ago today, thousands of Americans hugged their family members and left the house to never return. This unthinkable tragedy still impacts us all to this day. We salute the first responders that did the job that they were sworn to do especially in the face of something so evil. Today, we remembered the events of 09/11/2001 with a remembrance ceremony outside of the public safety building.

⚠️Giddings Road & Taylor Road Intersection CLOSED⚠️ Sept 8th through the duration of the construction. A roundabout is being constructed.

The Giddings-Taylor Intersection will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 8th for the installation of a new roundabout. The intersection will be fully closed for the duration of the project. This project is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.

Updated Media Release: Felonious Assault (Sbarro Restaurant)

On Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, the Oakland County Prosecutors Officer issued the charge of Felony Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder. On September 2nd, 2026, Armani Laquarius Phillips, a 21-year-old Pontiac resident, was arraigned in the 52-3rd District Court before Magistrate Karen Holt. Phillips was given a $150,000 cash/no 10% allowed bond, including a GPS tether if released. If convicted, Phillips faces 10 years in prison or a $5,000 fine. Phillips' next court date will be September 14th, 2026, in the 52-3rd District Court for a Probable Cause Conference.

On Sunday, August 30th, 2026, at approximately 12:30 pm, personnel from the Auburn Hills Police Department and Fire Department were dispatched to the Sbarro Restaurant, located inside the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets at 4000 Baldwin Road, in response to 911 calls reporting that two male employees were fighting in the back room. It was reported that one of the males was stabbed with a knife.

Prior to officers' arrival on scene, the suspect fled the mall. Officers interviewed the victim and identified the suspect. The suspect was identified as an 18-year-old male who resides in the City of Pontiac. A request was made for the Oakland County Sheriff's Office to respond to the suspect's address in Pontiac. The suspect was located and safely taken into custody.

The Fire Department transported the 18-year-old male victim to a local hospital, where it was determined that he sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the stabbing. The incident stemmed from an ongoing disagreement between the victim and the suspect. It occurred in the restaurant's back room. No other injuries or parties were involved in the incident.

The case has been presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for charges. The suspect remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail.

The return to school is here and school bus safety is important to all of us! School Buses may be equipped with cameras to assist with enforcement of violations. When in doubt, drive like your children are on that bus.
