**IMPORTANT NOTICE** Attention Lakeshore property owners on Au Train Lake and Au Train River!!

The US Army Corps of Engineers will be conducting a survey of the Au Train Lake and River areas (From Au Train Lake through to the Au Train River mouth at Lake Superior) in the Township. They expect to be in the field starting on November 1, 2026 ---The purpose of the survey is to begin a study of what changes may occur due to alterations that did take place and what future actions by the State/EGLE at the Forest Lake Dam will take place (next Spring/Summer). This study will help mitigate any negative issues from the dam alterations, including the River flooding that has occurred in the past from sand and ice build up at the mouth ---

Any waterfront property owners that need more information or has issues with the USACOE traversing their property, please call Thomas Balmes, Au Train Township Supervisor at (906)892-8279.

This is a good thing for our Township and is being funding solely through grant monies obtained by the USACOE.

*Garbage Pickup Reminders*

We have extended our contract with GFL with the renewal of the Garbage Fund Millage in August. Our local contact is the Wood Island Landfill Facility. E10081 State Highway M28 Wetmore, MI 49895 (906)387-2646 Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Residents/Taxpayers are allowed 2 garbage carts weekly. NO ADDITONAL GARBAGE WILL BE PICKED UP BY ADDING ANOTHER CART OR PLACING THINGS OUTSIDE THE CART. There will be no exceptions!! To replace or purchase a cart you are responsible for the cost and need to reach out to GFL Direct. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Supervisor Balmes at (906)892-8279.

**November 3, 2026 General Election**

Absent Voter ballots will be going in the mail starting Monday, September 28th. If you are on the Permanent Ballot List it will be mailed to your registered address automatically. You don't need to file again. If you will be leaving the area in the next couple of weeks you need to provide the Clerk with your alternate address. The USPS cannot forward Election Mail!!

Treasurer Office Hours - Summer Tax Collection
Tuesday, September 15th
Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Au Train Township Treasurer, Kristy Cota, will hold office hours on Tuesday, September 15th from 9AM to 5PM for the collection of Summer Taxes. September 15th is the final day to pay without penalties and interest.

The "postmarked" date is no longer acceptable. ALL payments must be received by September 15th to be considered paid in full.
Please allow for extra time for mail delivery or consider paying online (link on the front page our website). Payments received after September 15th are subject to penalty and interest.
