Exploring Lunar Eclipses Through Hands-On Learning

Students at WCP recently explored the fascinating science behind lunar eclipses through a hands-on experiment in library class. They learned what an eclipse is and discovered how a lunar eclipse occurs when Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, causing Earth’s shadow to fall across the Moon.

To demonstrate this process, students used a flashlight to represent the Sun, a globe to represent Earth, and a bowl to represent the Moon. By carefully positioning each object, they were able to observe how the light created a shadow on the “Moon,” just as it does during an actual lunar eclipse.

This engaging activity allowed students to see science in action while making connections between classroom learning and the world around them. "Hands-on experiments like this make learning exciting, memorable, and fun," stated Ms. Karen!

📚 **18 More Junior Trackers!**

We are excited to recognize **18 additional students** at our elementary school who have earned the title of **Junior Tracker**!

These students set a goal, stayed committed, and completed the challenge by reading **12 books** and successfully passing the accompanying reading comprehension quizzes before the deadline.

We are proud of the effort, consistency, and love of learning these students demonstrated along the way. Congratulations to our newest Junior Trackers! 👏📖
Special thanks to our "Head Detective" Mrs. Pat Hudgins for this fun program.
