For more information on volunteer opportunities please fill out the form at: https://bit.ly/FCPZVolunteerForm Thank you for your support! Since 1983, the Friends of Capron Park Zoo has had the mission to carry on charitable work for the development and improvement of Capron Park Zoo. With the help of the community through fundraising, we further the mission of Capron Park Zoo in the areas of ed
ucation, conservation and recreation. In order to provide this support to the Zoo, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals just like you, we wouldn't be able to achieve this goal each year. Our fundraising efforts are for specific animal care and enrichment, conservation initiatives, and capital projects implemented by Capron Park Zoo to improve and enhance the overall visitor experience. The Zoo itself is municipally owned and operated by the City of Attleboro and is responsible for commissioning and overseeing the projects we help support. Over the years, your donations have permitted us to:
* Install Zoo-wide WiFi and wireless Sound System
* Assist with projects like the Concessions Picnic Area, Lemur Island and Boardwalk exhibit area, and the SplashPad Playspace,
* Acquire Ramses, a rare White Lion
* Purchase medical equipment, like an animal warming system, an ultrasound machine and a portable anesthesia machine
* Start a Veterinary Fund
* Support the Wildlife SOS Fund
* Sponsor educational trips for Zoo personnel
Our goal in the area of conservation is to generate awareness of world and wildlife ecology, promoting various causes amongst families that visit Capron Park Zoo. Each year we select and support a worthwhile global conservation effort. In 2009, we sent $1,200 to the Madagascar Fauna Group to support lemur protection programs in Madagascar. In 2010, we chose to support the Lion Tamarin Conservation Fund of Brazil. Last year we supported the Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund. Capron Park Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and participates in the Species Survival Plan. Throughout the year the zoo offers activities and educational programs dedicated to furthering the understanding of animals from all over the world. The Friends are frequent participants in the Zoo’s public outreach events such as Zoo Boo and Zoo Moon. With its family-focus and longstanding outreach to Attleboro and the surrounding communities, the Zoo is truly a cause worth supporting.
