Balfour Riverwalk Park was created in 1998 and has long been a popular downtown spot, hosting theatrical productions, concerts, and other community events. Yet, as the city grows and changes the park is in need of some freshening up and new fun stuff to do.

Please help us design the next exciting era of the park at the community input meeting on Wednesday, Oct, 7th @ 6pm in the Attleboro Public Library. If you can’t attend the meeting please take the online survey.

The Sanderson Sisters return to Attleboro for the fall edition of Motion Picture in the Park. Grab your witch brooms and lawn chairs and stop by Capron Park on October 2nd at 6:30pm! The Sanderson Sisters will be on site for a meet and great and pictures from 6:00pm-8:00pm! Wear a costume and receive some Halloween goodies! This event is brought to you by Sturdy Health and Turner Brothers Food Truck!

The Attleboro Council on Aging welcomes all generations to attend the upcoming Grandparents Day Celebration at 4:00pm this coming Tuesday, 9/15, with story teller and musician, John Porcino! Bring your kids, grandkids, or great grandkids to the Larson Center at 25 South Main Street to enjoy engaging tales, interactive songs, and musical instruments from around the world. Need to dispose of a mattress or box spring?

Attleboro residents may bring mattresses and box springs to the Recycling Center during normal business hours.

The fee is $25 per item and may be paid by cash, check, or credit card.

Please note: All mattresses and box springs must be dry and free of mold and bedbugs.

On this 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on America may we remember to never forget the many lives lost and shattered, the hundreds of firefighters, police officers, and all the brave men and women who ran into the danger, and all those from across the nation who came together in grief, unity, and a shared love of country.

The City of Attleboro extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Capron Park Zoo employee Kayla St. George.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our beloved colleagues and friends, Kayla St. George, whose passion for animals touched so many lives at Capron Park Zoo.

Kayla knew from a young age that she wanted to build trusting relationships with animals. After watching Free W***y as a child, she dreamed of becoming someone who could work alongside animals and help them participate in their own care. Through years of education, volunteering, and internships, she made that dream become a reality. How fortunate we are that her journey brought her here to Capron Park Zoo.

Kayla had a special love for whales and warthogs, but her greatest gift was seeing the individual personality behind every animal. From her “heart animal,” Everett the warthog, to Kela the beluga whale (both animals she worked with at different facilities) and finally CPZ’s own Reeves’ Muntjacs, Kayla celebrated their individual personalities, quirks, and the unique relationships they shared with her while under her care.

She was especially proud to be the Vice Coordinator of AZA's Reeves’ Muntjac Species Survival Plan Program. Working with our own muntjacs here at the zoo and hearing their impatient little “barks” at mealtime was one of Kayla’s favorite things.

Kayla leaves behind a legacy of compassion, curiosity, trust, and an unwavering love for animals. Her impact will continue through the animals she cared for, the colleagues she inspired, and the memories she gave all of us.

We are incredibly grateful that Kayla’s path led her to Capron Park Zoo. She will be deeply missed and forever remain a part of our zoo family.

Attn residents in the Richardson Avenue area:

We were recently informed that Amtrak will be performing some improvements to their infrastructure near 366 Richardson Ave.

This work will begin on Thursday 9/10 and continue to Sunday 9/13.

Area residents may experience construction related noise, bright lights during overnight work, movement of large equipment, and contractor and Amtrak employee parking near the work site.

The work period schedule is:

Thursday, Sept. 10: 7am to 3pm.

On Friday, Sept. 11 work will begin at 8pm and continue all day and night until 5pm Sunday morning.
