Pride in the Park Volunteer Day Planned to Revitalize Community Park - JUNE 20th SATURDAY 8:am
The City of Attica is inviting residents of all ages to come together for Pride in the Park, a community-wide volunteer event dedicated to improving and beautifying our local park.
More than just a cleanup day, Pride in the Park is an opportunity for neighbors, families, businesses, and community organizations to work side-by-side to create a park that everyone can be proud of.
Volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of projects, including:
• Painting park railings
• Painting playground equipment
• Painting park sheds and structures
• Repairing and replacing bench boards
• General cleanup and beautification projects
• Landscaping and other maintenance activities
• sanding
• painting
• cut tires off of trees
• rope-off markers for a walking path
• rebuild picnic tables
• would really love to have some area woodworkers there to assist with rebuilding picnic tables
• anything to beautify the park in order to start having more activities / events there
The City will provide paint, brushes, and project materials. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing suitable for painting and outdoor work.
As a thank-you to everyone who participates, free hot dogs and drinks will be provided throughout the event.
"Pride in the Park is a chance to come together, give back, and create a park our entire community can be proud of. Whether you can help for an hour or the entire day, your participation will make a lasting difference."
Residents, businesses, churches, civic groups, and community organizations are all encouraged to participate. Donations of supplies, materials, and volunteer labor are also welcome.
Together, we can refresh our park, strengthen community pride, and create a welcoming space for future generations to enjoy.

* * * A NOTE FROM THE MAYOR * * *

Due to the fire last night, Main Street will remain partially closed, and we ask the public for patience and cooperation as crews continue to monitor the area. The Attica Fire Department Dist #1 responded immediately, and with the assistance of mutual aid agencies, firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to additional structures. The buildings which over the years served as businesses, city gathering place for various community purposes, is considered a total loss. Mutual aid assistance was provided by the City of Anthony Fire Department, City of Harper Fire Department, and Harper County EMS. Additional support during the incident was provided by the Attica Police Department, Harper County Sheriff's Office, Harper Police Department, and Anthony Police Department. Due to ongoing safety concerns and the potential for structural collapse, we ask the public to continue avoiding the affected area. Because of the high volume of water used during the fire response, water pressure throughout parts of the community may be lower than normal. We appreciate your patience and understanding. On behalf of the City of Attica, I want to thank all of the responding agencies and personnel for their swift action and continued efforts to protect our community.
- Mike Loreg
Mayor of Attica
