District 2 County Commissioner reports these roads to be closed through tonight-High Hill Rd. East and West, S. Old Highway, E and W. Allison Rd., E. Rodeo Rd. and E. Turkey Creek Rd. District 2 has been out doing damage asessments and emergency work throughout the day and into tonight and will be back at it in the morning. There still could be more rain throughout tonight so please drive safely tomorrow and be aware of high and swift moving water. Turn around don’t drown!

Emergency Management, OHP Troopers, Sheriff Department, Fire Departments and EMS all working together today on many swift water rescues county wide. Atoka County can be proud of all their First Responder agencies!

Details

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Oklahoma, including the following
counties, Atoka and Johnston.

* WHEN...Until 815 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 556 PM CDT, Heavy rainfall that produced significant flash
flooding earlier has ended, but runoff will continue present
a threat of flooding. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly in the warned area. Between 4 and 8 inches of
rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Atoka, Wapanucka, Tushka, Caney, Bromide, Coleman, Boggy
Depot Park and Bentley.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

At 458 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Lane to 4 miles south of Utica. Movement
was east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Durant, Atoka, Colbert, Caddo, Bokchito, Achille, Bennington, Silo,
Tushka, Caney, Kenefic, Kemp, Mead, Armstrong, Hendrix, Cartwright,
Utica, Albany, Blue, and Lane.

a line extending from near Lehigh to 8 miles southwest of Willis.
Movement was southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Ardmore, Durant, Madill, Atoka, Tishomingo, Marietta, Denison,
Kingston, Dickson, Colbert, Caddo, Mannsville, Ravia, Achille,
Wapanucka, Silo, Milburn, Tushka, Caney, and Kenefic.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

a line extending from near Gerty to 3 miles east of Centrahoma to 4
miles northwest of Ravia. Movement was southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
