Dear Atlantic Highlands Residents,
We are Steven Lombardi and Brent Sonnek-Schmelz, and we are running for the Atlantic Highlands Elementary School Board of Education. We are committed to a providing the children of Atlantic Highlands an exceptional educational experience. It is a place where parents, teachers, students and the entire community come together for one purpose: to prepare the next ge
neration for productive, meaningful lives. We have made tremendous strides over the past decade – our teachers and parents are more engaged, our students are exceeding statewide standards and our facilities are much improved. We are a better community for it. But there is still room to grow. We are now at a critical moment with new curricular requirements, a new Superintendent and vital decisions on the horizon in the coming year. What happens over the next few years will shape the success and reputation of our school and our town for a long time. If you elect us to the Board of Education, it will be our goal to help the school continue to improve and become the best school in our region. Priorities will include:
Ensuring the efficient and economical implementation of technology. Supporting the teachers and administration on core curriculum changes to help maximize their effectiveness throughout the school day. Finding a way to open the schoolyard more often for our students’ use
Increasing the focus on STEM and experiential learning to engage our students inherent creativity and curiosity. Building a road map for the next decade with an emphasis on academic rigor and continuous improvement. On November 5, we hope you agree with our vision for the future of our school and vote Steven Lombardi and Brent Sonnek-Schmelz for the School Board.
