(2)

The role of the AC Police Foundation is not to displace City or State funding for basic law enforcement, but to financially support programs designed to allow the AC Police Department to excel in the rapidly evolving areas of technology, strategies and training by providing resources that are not readily available through other means. The Foundation is also a mechanism, which will ensure long-term

positive contribution to the future of public safety programs in Atlantic City by providing additional resources to produce safety programs and outreach to the community.

On April 24, 2026, Sergeant Brian Hambrecht was flagged down near North Carolina and Baltic Avenues regarding a male inside 704 N. Maryland Avenue reportedly armed with a knife. As he investigated, Sgt. Hambrecht advised responding units that the suspect was holding a female at knife-point inside the residence.

Officers Andres Ayala-Cabrera and Azale Carter-Reynolds arrived on scene and heard a female pleading for help from within. They immediately unholstered their service weapons and entered the home. Inside the kitchen, they located the suspect holding the victim against her will with a knife. Upon seeing officers and hearing commands, the suspect dropped the weapon and released the victim unharmed.

Officers Ayala and Carter quickly took the suspect into custody without further incident actions that very likely saved a life.
For their outstanding actions, both officers have been awarded the 803 Award and were recommended for commendations. Their composure, teamwork, and decisive response reflect the highest standards of our department.

The Atlantic City Police Foundation continues to invest in the future of our department, donating $3,000 toward new uniforms for our Police Explorers Program, led by Advisor Ofc. Dabney.

Today, our Explorers were fitted for their uniforms at Action Uniform. A special thank you to Keith and Jess for taking the time to assist and ensure everything was squared away.

We appreciate the continued support from the community in helping shape the next generation of leaders in law enforcement. Atlantic City Police FoundationAction Uniform Company
