The City of Atlantic City and City of Atlantic City Multicultural Services are excited to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month and recognize the rich culture, history and contributions of our Hispanic community!

🎉🌎 Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month! 🌎🎉

From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring the histories, cultures, and countless contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans whose heritage traces to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

This month is an opportunity to recognize the traditions, languages, achievements, and vibrant cultures that enrich our communities every day. As we celebrate America's 250th year, we also acknowledge the lasting impact Hispanic Americans have had in shaping our nation's history, culture, and future.

🧠 5 Fun Facts About Hispanic Heritage Month:

1️⃣ 📅 Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 because it marks the independence anniversaries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile, and Belize also celebrate important national holidays during this period.

2️⃣ 📖 It was first recognized as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968 before becoming a month-long national observance in 1988.

3️⃣ 🌎 The United States is home to people with roots in more than 20 Spanish-speaking countries and territories, making Hispanic and Latino cultures incredibly diverse.

4️⃣ 🎨 Hispanic Americans have made lasting contributions to the arts, science, education, business, public service, sports, and countless other fields, helping shape communities across the country.

5️⃣ 🗣️ Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States, with millions of people using it every day at home, at work, and in their communities—making bilingualism an important part of America's cultural landscape.

This month—and every month—we celebrate the people, traditions, and stories that continue to strengthen our communities and enrich the cultural fabric of the United States.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! ❤️
