Community Bright Spot ✨

Artistic Stones: Small Bright Spots

From the city’s Art Gallery collection to the annual Arts in the Park to the monthly Songwriters Night, our talented artists share their diverse creations throughout the year. And then there are the small hand-painted stones you might’ve seen in one of our parks or near the beach. Proof that bright spots come in small and large sizes.

For more information about some of the art in our community, go to https://coab.us/806/Art-Gallery and https://coab.us/2130/Arts-Recreation-and-Culture-Committee.

In observance of Juneteenth, all City of Atlantic Beach administrative offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, June 19.

Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when news of emancipation finally reached the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas—marking a profound turning point in our nation's history. It is a day to reflect, honor the triumphs and resilience of African Americans, and celebrate freedom and community.

📅 Essential Services Schedule
While our administrative offices are taking this time to observe the holiday, essential city services will continue to run to keep Atlantic Beach safe and clean:

Emergency Services: Police, fire, and rescue services remain fully operational. As always, please dial 911 for emergencies.

Garbage & Recycling: Waste collection schedules will remain unaffected. Trash, recycling, and yard waste will be picked up on your normal Friday schedule.

Parks & Beaches: Our beautiful parks and beach access points remain open for you and your family to enjoy.

Need to make a payment or submit a request? You can still use our online citizen portal 24/7 for utility payments, permitting, and non-emergency service requests. These will be processed when staff returns.

Administrative offices will reopen with normal business hours on Monday, June 22.

Have a safe, meaningful, and reflective Juneteenth weekend, Atlantic Beach! 🌊✨

Traffic Tip Thursday!

Construction crews have started a major road project on Mayport Rd this week! While they're working hard, it's important to remember their safety depends on every driver making smart choices behind the wheel. When approaching and while driving through a work zone, remember to do the following:

When approaching a work zone:
✅ Slow down and obey posted speed limits
✅ Stay alert and avoid distractions
✅ Give workers and equipment plenty of space
✅ Follow all traffic signs, cones, and flaggers' directions
✅ Be prepared for changing traffic patterns

A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a lifetime of consequences. Help keep our road workers, first responders, and fellow motorists safe by staying focused and driving responsibly through work zones!
