Today, DOC's Career Development team had the honor of attending the Public Safety Blue Mass event in remembrance of September 11th, 2001. Events like Blue Mass help keep the memories of those we lost alive and reminds us of the monumental sacrifices mad that day.

On September 11th, we remember the victims, lives lost, and sacrifices made by brave first responders who ran towards imminent danger. Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor all of those impacted by tragedy, and the courage we all strive to have in the line of duty.

On September 1st, 2026, former Corrections Officer, and Atlanta Police Recruit Moses Russ was tragically taken before his time in a traffic accident. Moses was a beloved light in Corrections and a shining example that you could play hard while working hard. Full of life and levity, he brought his unique brand of positivity to each shift and was a delight to interact with both on and off duty. Always ready to carry either conversation or tune; Moses' upbeat and determined attitude made our team stronger. You are forever in our hearts, and may you rest in power.

Yesterday, DOC alongside APD, AFRD, FCSO, and other organizations popped out to engage personally with Atlanta citizens in support of National Night Out! National Night Out is a national annual event in which public safety departments and officials focus on community, fellowship, and camaraderie through a night of fun activities with their constituents.

As Atlanta's World Cup 2026 participation winds to a close, DOC thanks everyone involved in making the World Cup a memorable experience for Atlanta.
