The Democratic Party of Georgia Latino Caucus seeks to empower the Latino community to become more actively involved in the electoral and political process. In 2012, the State of Georgia’s representation in Congress grew by two seats; undoubtedly the tremendous increases in the Latino population of Georgia over the previous decades had much to do with the state’s overall growth. We have waited too

long to turn this population growth into political influence. Furthermore, when considering current census results with regards to birthrates, and the increasing number of Latinos becoming eligible to vote for the first time, we note the possible impact this up and coming voting electorate can have on state elections. Therefore we must increase the number of Latino registered voters, the number of Latino voting in all elections, the number of Latino candidates running for office, the level of attention & interest regarding Latino issues, and our political capital. Latinos can influence elections at nearly every level, 2014 must be the year that we show the state the power that Latinos in Georgia can truly have. DPG Latino Caucus Executive Committee--
Chairman: Antonio Molina
Vice-Chairwoman: Brenda Lopez Romero
Secretary: Ernesto Ausejo
Treasurer: Omar Rodriguez

It should come as a shock to no one: The 2025 Latin Grammy Awards were all about Bad Bunny. The Puerto Rican superstar won album of the year for his landmark release “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.”

After thanking his family and all those who worked on the album, he ended his speech with “Puerto Rico, I love you, thank you.”

The artist born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio was destined to dominate from the jump. He also won the first award of the night, for música urbana album. Halfway through the show, the singer found himself back on stage accepting the música urbana song trophy for “DTmF.” “I never practice my speeches,” he said in Spanish. And then he showed up for a third time: to perform “Weltita” with Chuwi.

He wasn’t the only one with reason to celebrate: Song of the year went to Karol G, Andrés Jael Correa Ríos and Édgar Barrera for “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido.” And Alejandro Sanz took home record of the year for “¿Y Ahora Qué?”

House Speaker Mike Johnson has finally sworn in Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva, 50 days after her election win. For weeks, Johnson had refused to swear in Grijalva claiming he didn’t have the power to do so because the House was out of session, but the chamber can operate during a government shutdown — he even swore in two Republicans who won their special elections earlier this year while the House was in recess. Johnson’s stalling prevented Grijalva from carrying out her duty as congresswoman, denying 813,000 Arizonans access to basic constituent services. Grijalva and the attorney general of Arizona even filed a federal lawsuit. Now that she has been sworn in, she is the last signature needed for a petition to force a floor vote demanding the release of the Epstein files.
