Happy Labor Day from the Georgia Composite Medical Board! We are closed today.

Today we're recognizing the healthcare professionals we license and regulate across Georgia, and the team here at the Board that supports them every day. From licensing, to compliance, to investigations, to legal, to operations and administration, this team works hard to keep Georgia's healthcare system running smoothly and the public protected.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication, both to our licensees and to each other. We hope you enjoy the well-deserved day off!

GCMB staff recently participated in a government partner tour of Georgia's medical cannabis industry, organized by the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission. The tour included stops at a Class 2 medical cannabis production facility, an independent testing laboratory, and a licensed dispensary, all in Macon, GA.

The timing aligned with Senate Bill 220, the Putting Georgia's Patients First Act, which took effect July 1, 2026, and significantly updated the state's medical cannabis program. The law expanded the list of qualifying conditions, replaced the previous potency cap with a milligram-based possession limit, and broadened access to include independent pharmacies alongside licensed dispensaries. As the industry evolves under this legislation, our team believes firsthand education across the full regulatory landscape helps us better serve Georgia's licensees and the public.

Thank you to the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission for coordinating this tour, and to Fine Fettle, SJ Labs and Analytics, LLC, and Trulieve for welcoming us and offering such an informative look at their operations!

Congratulations to our Chief Financial Officer, Tarodrick Harper, on 15 years of service to the State of Georgia!

Tarodrick brings excellence, integrity, and an incredible work ethic to everything he does. A retired U.S. Marine, he has continued a life of service through his work with the State, and we are so grateful that part of that journey has been with the Georgia Composite Medical Board.

Beyond being exceptional at his job, Tarodrick is the kind of person every team hopes to have. Tarodrick, thank you for 15 years of dedicated service, leadership, and excellence. We are proud to work alongside you and very lucky to have you on our team. Congratulations on this milestone!

Thank you to Morehouse School of Medicine for an incredible Leadership Summit! Our Director of Compliance, Latisha Bias, and Director of Licensing, David Harris, had the opportunity to attend and see firsthand the extraordinary work happening there, from training the next generation of healthcare leaders to advancing groundbreaking research, strengthening community partnerships, and expanding access to high-quality care across Georgia.

It was a meaningful day of connection and learning, and we're glad to have experts like these leading the way as such a valuable resource for our state.

We're looking forward to all that is to come!

Attention Physician Assistants and Anesthesiologist Assistants: The process for adding or updating practice and supervisory/collaborative information has changed.

Previously used Job Description forms, formerly known as Form F, are no longer required and will not be processed if uploaded through Gateway.

To make an update, log in to your Gateway account (https://gateway.medicalboard.georgia.gov/index.aspx) and select “Add/Modify Practices & Collaboration.” Please use this electronic process for all future practice additions and modifications.

Using the electronic process sends your information directly through the Board’s licensing system and helps prevent unnecessary processing delays.

Applying for a license?

Before you submit, take time to review the requirements, double check that your documents are complete and accurate, and keep an eye on your email and portal for any updates. Skipping these steps can slow things down, so give your application the best shot at moving smoothly through the process.

We're here to help make licensing feel less overwhelming and more manageable, one step at a time.
