We’re saddened to share the passing of Mr. Al Martinez, who worked with PAC for 17 years before retiring in 2013.

Al was a dedicated litigator who led our Macon office for many years before the PAC offices were consolidated into one location. He was the leading expert on wiretaps and served as a go-to source of advice for prosecutors across Georgia navigating this highly technical area of the law. When he retired, the loss of his expertise was deeply felt.

Our thoughts are with Al’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

When individual strengths align around a shared purpose, extraordinary things happen.

Yesterday, we wrapped up Part 3 of 4 of the Guardian’s Ascent Leadership Program, designed to strengthen leaders at every level. Part 3 focused on Leading Teams: People, Purpose, and Performance, exploring how leaders can bring individuals together to build cohesive, high-performing teams grounded in trust, shared goals, and results.

A special shout-out to Frank Trammer, CEO and Founder of Guardian Leadership, for partnering with us once again for another outstanding two-day training!

This week, Sharla Jackson presented a stalking case study at the Georgia Commission on Family Violence’s Annual Conference in Athens. Nearly 600 victim advocates, law enforcement officers, mental health professionals, and prosecutors gathered to learn about best practices for improving our state’s response to intimate partner violence.

Thank you, GCFV, for the opportunity to present!

Tragic news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Sgt. Chris Fisher, as well as the entire Warm Springs Police Department, during this difficult time.

"SO TRAGIC AND VERY SAD" | Sgt. Chris Fisher, a husband and father of two who had recently joined the Warm Springs Police Department, was shot and killed Wednesday. "I ask that all Georgians lift up Fisher’s family and his fellow officers in prayer," Gov. Kemp wrote. A manhunt for his accused killer continues:

General Counsel Robert Smith was on St. Simons Island this week to present a Legislative Update for the Georgia Narcotics Officers Association (GNOA) during its annual conference. More than 200 attendees participated in this year’s event!

Thank you, GNOA, for having us! We’re always proud to help keep Georgia’s law enforcement and prosecutor communities informed about new laws and legislation that directly impact their work.

2026 Train the Trainer is a wrap! 👏

Prosecutors, law enforcement, and victim advocates spent the week learning techniques to fine-tune their presentation skills. Attendees had the opportunity to advance their PowerPoint skills, learn how to engage different types of learners, and gain the confidence to take the stage. We’re so glad they accepted the challenge and joined us this week.

A big thank you to our amazing attendees and faculty for making this training such a success!

Congratulations to the Honorable Sherry Boston on this remarkable accomplishment! 👏

Congratulations to the Honorable Sherry Boston on this remarkable accomplishment! 👏

Sherry Boston 99L is the recipient of the 2026 Trailblazer Award.

Boston stands among the elite in the world of prosecution as part of the rare 1% of African American women serving as district attorneys nationwide. Leading a staff of more than 300 in DeKalb County, Boston has placed her office on the cutting edge of justice—mandating implicit bias training and launching specialized units to combat human trafficking and firearm violence. Recognized repeatedly as one of metro Atlanta’s Most Influential People, her innovative leadership continues to shape the national dialogue on criminal justice reform, making her a fitting recipient for this year's Trailblazer Award.

The Trailblazer Award commemorates Eléonore Raoul 1920L, the first woman admitted to Emory University, who became a national leader in the women’s suffrage movement. It can be awarded to any alumnus who has blazed a trail for women through their own professional and personal endeavors. Recipients will be recognized at the 2026 Emory Law Alumni Awards in October.
