YWCA Greater Atlanta salutes the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Joanna Adams, whose leadership, advocacy, and service reflected a deep commitment to eliminating racism, empowering women, and advancing justice.

A respected faith and civic leader, Joanna was inducted into YWCA Greater Atlanta's Academy of Women Achievers Class of 2014 and honored as the Woman of Achievement for her extraordinary contributions.

Throughout her life, she used her voice and influence to help create a more just world. Her example embodied the spirit of the YWCA mission and the generations of women who have worked to move Atlanta forward.

Our YWCA Greater Atlanta community is grateful for Joanna's friendship and a lifetime dedicated to service. May her legacy continue to inspire us.

Knowledge shared becomes power multiplied. 🧡

We recently welcomed a new group of ENCOREplus community advocates for volunteer training focused on breast health education and connecting women with vital resources.

These advocates will help extend our team’s reach across our communities — equipping more women with the information and support they need to take charge of their breast health.

Progress is taking shape on Atlanta’s Westside. 🏗️🧡

The restoration of YWCA Greater Atlanta’s historic Phillis Wheatley Westside Campus continues to move forward, bringing us closer to reopening a landmark that has long represented opportunity and connection.

When complete, the revitalized campus will once again serve as a vibrant hub for early childhood education, workforce development, health initiatives, and other resources that help women, girls, and their families thrive.

The vision behind our Collaboration in Action campaign is becoming a reality, marking a new chapter for this place and the community it serves.

We’re excited for what’s ahead!

YWCA Greater Atlanta joined our friends at Families First for the annual Back-to-School Bash, welcoming more than 1,200 students and families for a day of resources and connection before the new school year.

Our team distributed school supplies and shared information about our programs and the restoration of our historic Phillis Wheatley Westside Campus.

We were delighted to welcome back Laura Espinoza of Clear Channel Outdoor as a Mystery Reader. Her visit brought plenty of smiles, curiosity, and connection.

Our team had a wonderful time introducing residents to our programs and services and sharing how we are creating pathways for women, girls, and families across metro Atlanta.

Connection is one of the strongest foundations of leadership.

Our Georgia Women's Policy Institute alumni recently gathered for an evening of candle making at Linwood Court, tucked inside Citizen Supply at Ponce City Market.

It was a joy to bring together women from different GWPI cohorts to reconnect, share experiences, and build new relationships. We're also grateful to the team at Linwood Court, a Black woman-owned business, for creating such a welcoming space for our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and poured into this special moment. We look forward to continuing to strengthen this growing network of women leaders and advocates working to create positive change across Georgia. 🧡
