🔥 2026 Georgia Fire Service Conference Recap 🔥

What a week in Augusta!

The 2026 Georgia Fire Service Conference brought together firefighters, fire chiefs, instructors, vendors, partners, and fire service leaders from across the state for a week focused on training, connection, and strengthening Georgia’s fire service.

From hands-on training and educational sessions to the vendor hall, networking opportunities, and our Pulse Check lunch with updates from statewide fire service partners, there was no shortage of opportunities to learn, share ideas, and build relationships.

One of the most meaningful moments of the week was gathering together for the Georgia Fire Service Memorial Service to honor and remember those who dedicated their lives to serving others. We were also proud to celebrate the people and departments who continue to make a difference throughout Georgia’s fire service.

And, of course, the week wouldn’t be complete without a little friendly competition! 🚒🔥

A huge THANK YOU to Augusta Fire Department for welcoming us to Augusta, our instructors and presenters for sharing their knowledge, our sponsors and vendors for their continued support, and every attendee who took the time to join us.

Most importantly, thank you to Georgia’s firefighters for the work you do every single day.

The deadline for the 2026 Georgia State Firefighters Association Fire Department Grants & Scholarships is almost here!

📅 APPLICATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 19, 2026

GSFA will award:
🎓 Up to SIX $500 scholarships
🚒 Up to TWO $1,000 fire department grants

Qualified applications received by the deadline will be entered into a drawing held during the 2026 Georgia Fire Service Conference, August 24–29 in Augusta!

Don’t wait! Applications must be received by GSFA by August 19.

In Loving Memory of Morton "Mort" Linder

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Morton Linder, a dedicated firefighter, and cherished member of the fire service family.

Mort faithfully served the Martinez Fire Department and was a proud supporter and member of the Georgia State Firefighters Association, where his commitment to the fire service and the firefighters of Georgia left a lasting impact. Throughout his years of service, he exemplified courage, professionalism, and an unwavering dedication to protecting and serving his community.

Mort served as Parliamentarian and has attended the Georgia Fire Service Conference for close to, if not 50, years.

On behalf of the Georgia fire service community, we extend our deepest condolences to Morton's family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. During this difficult time, we ask that you keep his loved ones and the members of the Columbia County ( Martinez Fire Department) in your thoughts and prayers.

Morton's contributions to the fire service will never be forgotten, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who served alongside him.

Rest easy, Brother. Your watch is complete. We will save you a front row seat at the conference this year, in your honor!
