Our community is our strength. A huge thank you to the residents of the Manor at Scott’s Crossing for their powerful show of support.

We were happy to provide rides to make early voting accessible. I don't take your trust for granted. Let's keep the momentum going—vote!

Last Sunday, our family took advantage of Early Voting. Today from Noon-5P is the last weekend day of Early Voting. You may of course still Early Vote this Monday through Friday from 9A-6P.

As you can see, it's something we've done together since my 2017 General Election, when Wyatt decided to make his way into the world the Thursday before Early Voting started! He came back with us for the 2017 Runoff - the race that put me into office after winning by just over 120 votes.

By the 2021 General Election, Rylee had joined us. I must have been doing something right, because I won that election with almost 70% of the vote.

For the 2025 General Election, we have a much bigger Wyatt and Rylee learning about how important it is to be civically engaged - and that they are - asking and reporting to dad about traffic, parks, trails, and potholes!

Let's Get Out the Vote, so we can continue improving District 9 and our City.

I’m deeply honored to have the support of so many neighborhood leaders, residents, and business owners across District 9 who work every day to make our communities stronger, safer, and more connected.

Over the past eight years (ten counting my work for my predecessor), we’ve tackled many challenges together — improving public safety, supporting small businesses, enhancing our parks, and investing in infrastructure that keeps our neighborhoods thriving.

As I ask for your vote to continue serving our district and city for another four years, as there is much more work to be done, and EXPERIENCE EQUALS RESULTS! I’m inspired by the voices of our neighbors who share a vision for progress, partnership, and people-first leadership.

Swipe through to hear directly from community leaders who believe in what we’ve built together — and what’s next for District 9!

HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION

Atlanta voters will also see a homestead exemption measure on the ballot, and you can read about it at the Center for Civic Innovation site.

https://civicatlanta.org/blog/atlanta-senior-tax-exemption-2025-ballot

It would give an additional exemption from property taxes for Atlanta Public Schools (APS) to homeowners age 65 and older, *regardless of their income*. That last part is important.

If the intention is to give financial assistance to lower-income residents, surely there are other ways we could do this without hurting schools. As it is, the measure will heavily benefit wealthier home owners, and it provides no benefit to renters.

Our Story

Dustin Hillis was elected to the Atlanta City Council in 2017, and is serving his first term representing the citizens of District 9 in Northwest Atlanta. Currently, he serves as Vice Chair of the Public Safety Committee and is a member of the City Utilities Committee and the Zoning Committee.

Professionally, Dustin is a critical care registered nurse and formerly worked in the Neuroscience ICU at Emory University Hospital. Dustin also served in Emory’s Serious Communicable Disease Unit during the 2014-2016 Ebola Outbreak, caring for four of the first patients ever treated in the United States. He was an integral part of the team of doctors, nurses, and public health professionals who revised and strengthened the standards of care for patients with Ebola Virus Disease. Dustin received the Emory University Hospital’s 2014 “Rookie of the Year” Award, the National Patient Safety Foundation's DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, and is CCRN, BLS, ACLS, ASLS, and PALS certified and is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Georgia Nurses Association.

Dustin began his strong commitment to community service when he and his wife moved to the Riverside Neighborhood in 2011. He saw that there was much work to be done in his neighborhood and the surrounding area, so he immediately started attending meetings of the Riverside Neighborhood Association (RNA) and Neighborhood Planning Unit D (NPU-D). Through the years, Dustin served as RNA’s Chair of P***c Safety, Vice President, President, and Immediate Past President. In those roles, Dustin managed the neighborhood security patrol, spearheaded a proactive rezoning to spur economic development, and led the charge on better code enforcement of blighted structures.
