Atlanta seniors are invited to join us for Civic Participation for Seniors, a chance to connect with neighbors, learn more about City resources, and find ways to stay involved in the communities you call home.

This free event, in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Constituent Services, is all about making civic participation feel a little more accessible and a lot more meaningful. We'll have chair aerobics, resource tables, lunch, and much more for participants!

Hey Atlanta! Join us Friday, September 18th as we join cities around the world for Park(ing) Day, a day that invites us to rethink how we use the spaces along our streets.

Across four locations in Atlanta, curbside parking spaces will become temporary Interpretive Gardens, bringing together plants, art and interactive activities. The idea is to experiment a little and give people a chance to experience public space in a new way.

This year’s theme, Prototype Tomorrow, is about trying out ideas today that could shape the streets of tomorrow. Gardens are one way to do that. They can bring more nature into our daily routines, create places to slow down and connect, and make the spaces we move through every day feel a little more welcoming.

We’ll be out there with some great partners and plenty to see, so come by, explore the gardens and tell us what you think. Maybe there’s more we can do with the space between the sidewalk and the street than we’ve imagined.

Earlier this year, we awarded New Hope AME Church with a historic landmark/site designation. Well, what does that mean? Historic designation is one way we recognize and help protect places that have played an important role in our city's story. That might be a landmark building, a historic site, or an entire neighborhood.

Whether you're a longtime resident, a new neighbor, a homeowner, or simply someone who loves Atlanta, historic preservation has something to do with you.
