Co-hosted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Forum 2000 Foundation, the 2026 Forum for Democratic Cooperation convened political leaders, scholars, and policy experts from around the world to discuss democracy, security, and the challenges shaping the future international order.
As China’s influence and authoritarian pressure expand across the Indo-Pacific, democracies are facing growing challenges from information warfare and disinformation. Speakers reflected on how authoritarian regimes exploit conspiracy theories, social division, and distrust to weaken democratic societies and erode public confidence in democracy itself.

由外交部與「 #公元兩千論壇基金會」（Forum 2000 Foundation）共同舉辦的「2026 #民主合作論壇」（2026 Forum for Democratic Cooperation），邀集來自世界各地的政要、學者及政策專家，共同探討民主、安全及國際秩序面臨的新挑戰。

🎬🇹🇼 A Chip Odyssey Screening Brings Taiwan’s Semiconductor Story to Atlanta

TECO in Atlanta partnered with Fulton County Government, Fulton County Library System, Monte Jade Science & Technology Association Southeastern US, and the Atlanta Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, to host a screening of A Chip Odyssey. Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts, Fulton County Library System Executive Director Gayle Holloman, Georgia State Representative and Taiwan Caucus Co-Chair Karen Lupton, and members of the diplomatic community attended the event. We were happy to see 250 people in audience to learn with us Taiwan’s history of semiconductor industry, from zero to what it is today.

More exciting: Director Hsiao Chu-chen and Producer Chiang Hsien-pin joined us and shared amazing and moving stories behind the scene.

駐亞特蘭大辦事處與富爾頓郡政府、富爾頓郡公立圖書館、亞特蘭大台灣商會及美東南玉山科技協會合辦放映會。富爾頓郡郡長 Robb Pitts、圖書館館長Gayle Holloman、喬治亞州眾議員暨台灣連線共同主席 Karen Lupton，以及數國駐亞特蘭大總領事出席活動。很高興當天有250位來賓與我們一起學習台灣半導體產業從零到今天卓越成就的發展史。

更讓人興奮的是，導演蕭菊貞與製片蔣顯斌親自出席，並且與來賓分享電影背後的感人故事。

A historic milestone for Taiwanese literature 📚✨
Congratulations to Yang Shuang-zi and translator Lin King on winning the 2026 International Booker Prize for *Taiwan Travelogue*—the first Taiwanese work to receive the award. 🏆
Set in Japanese-ruled Taiwan, the novel explores cultural memory and identity through food, travel, and the perspectives of women. 🌍
As Yang reflected in her acceptance speech, literature may move quietly, but it has the power to cross borders, connect people, and carry ideas across generations.

📖2026國際布克獎英國時間5/19晚間（臺灣時間5/20清晨）公布得獎結果，
由 #楊双子 著、 #金翎 英譯的《 #臺灣漫遊錄》從6部決選作品中脫穎而出，獲得殊榮，是臺灣作品首次得到英國國際布克獎🎊

💪 #相信文學有力量 楊双子： #身為臺灣人是幸運與驕傲 ❤️
楊双子致詞表示，有些人認為藝術與文學必須遠離政治，但他認為，文學無法自外於所生長的土地，就此而言，文學本質上從來沒有脫離政治。綜觀臺灣文學發展史，百年來其實不斷在探問，臺灣人想要什麼樣的未來？臺灣人想要什麼樣的國家？時至今日，《臺灣漫遊錄》也加入探問這個問題的行列之一。

楊双子表示，臺灣人歷經殖民政權，面臨侵略威脅，在力量懸殊的強權面前，文學有力量嗎？而他始終相信文學有力量。文學看似緩慢，但總是堅定行動；文學通常安靜，卻並不妨礙信念遠播；翻譯會造成時差，但可以跨越時間與空間的限制。

楊双子說，「我相信文學有力量」，因為在思想的世界裡，文學從來沒有放棄堅守自我，也沒有放棄與他人對話。最後，他獻給故鄉臺灣，臺灣文學的百年探問，實際正是臺灣人百年來對自由與平等的追求，「能夠生為一名臺灣人，是我的幸運；能夠以臺灣作家的身分站在這裡，是我的驕傲」。

📖 #譯臺灣的創作
金翎致詞說，2022年俄羅斯入侵烏克蘭時，他做了明確的決定，在可預見的未來，不再無差別地翻譯任何華語作品，而只翻譯來自臺灣的創作。「我會持續這樣做，直到有一天，我的家鄉主權在英語世界裡不再是一種挑釁或笑話」，直到沒有任何人會臉不紅氣不喘地對他說，「我真應該去臺灣看看，趁它還在的時候」。

金翎提到，《臺灣漫遊錄》的英譯過程中，他知道會承擔許多風險，但他視這個計畫是對英文業界慣例的實驗性挑戰，一般來說，英文的翻譯文學認為翻譯及譯者，最好都是「隱形」的，但在這本書裡，有譯者注腳、序與後記，相同的書面漢字有3種不同的發音系統。比起原作，英文版需要讀者投入更多的心力，正因為它拒絕簡化臺灣多語言、多族群、多元文化的現實。

金翎說，原以為《臺灣漫遊錄》英文版只會吸引一小群讀者，但2024年在美國出版以來，它卻獲得未曾預料的強大關注，國際鎂光燈也讓這本書在臺灣成為一個突出且耀眼的範例，證明臺灣可以在國外訴說自己的故事，但沒有任何一本小說應該扛起幫整個國家發聲的重擔。

🌟盼翻譯不只是「果泥」，而是「多汁的果粒」，驕傲把它標示在包裝上
金翎感謝美國出版社Graywolf Press、大膽的編輯Yuka Igarashi，以及願意將譯者姓名放在封面上的英國出版社And Other Stories。他在致詞最後說道，在美國柳橙汁會標示為「無果泥」或「含果泥」，幾天前他才知道，在英國則分為「smooth（滑順）」或「with juicy bits（帶有多汁果粒）」。希望大家可以開始認為翻譯不只是「果泥」，而是「多汁的果粒」，並且驕傲地把它標示在包裝上。

#李遠 部長今早5點就起床等待頒獎典禮的同步直播，他說，有一種預感是楊双子和金翎會得獎，因為這本作品的內容是普世性的，可是形式卻是創新的，而且他覺得現在應該是臺灣文學作品及臺灣文化站到世界中心的時候了。今天剛好也是他來到文化部滿兩年的日子，楊双子和金翎在此刻獲獎，對於文化部及臺灣文化界是最好的禮物，「謝謝楊双子和金翎，讓世界看到臺灣，大家一起加油」🫶

😊英國版《臺灣漫遊錄》今年3月出版迄今，已銷售逾1萬冊。楊双子與金翎也在倫敦展開巡迴講座，與當地讀者進行交流，讓英國讀者更深入了解當代臺灣文學。

獲得國際布克獎後，主辦單位也將為得獎者楊双子與金翎安排多場活動，分別是5月21日在倫敦Waterstones Piccadilly書店，以及5月24日在威爾斯著名書鎮海伊（Hay-On-Wye）所舉辦的海伊節（Hay Festival）中，安排講座活動，讓英國讀者進一步與得獎者互動，認識《臺灣漫遊錄》內容。

📖《臺灣漫遊錄》以日治時期臺灣為背景，透過飲食、旅行與女性視角交織出殖民時代下的文化記憶與身份認同，作品兼具歷史敘事與當代文學風格。

📖《臺灣漫遊錄》2020年由春山出版社出版，2021年獲得金鼎獎圖書類文學圖書獎，2024年英文版獲得美國文學最高榮譽的美國國家圖書獎（National Book Awards）翻譯文學大獎，今再寫下佳績✨

**European Parliament recommendation on the 81st UN General Assembly session supports Taiwan’s international participation 🇹🇼🤝🇪🇺**
The report affirms support for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations and underscores that UNGA Resolution 2758 neither determines Taiwan’s sovereignty nor justifies excluding Taiwan from the international system.
It also opposes any unilateral attempt to change the status quo by force or coercion, while emphasizing the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
Taiwan will continue working with like-minded partners to uphold democracy, freedom, and the rules-based international order.

歐洲議會通過第81屆聯合國大會建議報告，展現對台灣國際參與的堅定支持🇹🇼🤝🇪🇺
報告明確指出， #聯大第2758號決議並未決定台灣主權，也不應被曲解為排除台灣參與國際體系的依據，並 #支持台灣有意義參與國際組織。
報告同時反對以武力或脅迫片面改變現狀，強調 #維護台海和平穩定 的重要性。
