Festival of Light - FOL The FESTIVAL OF LIGHT is an international collaboration of more than 20 photography festivals around the world.

At the beginning of the 20th century, photography heralded a new form of art and popular communication. At the end of this century, festivals and museums of photography are becoming the focal points of popular culture around the world. The FESTIVAL OF LIGHT joins the visual technologies of the 19th and 20th centuries with the new communication systems of the 21st century. ESPAÑOL -

LA LUZ es una colaboración internacional de más de 20 festivales de fotografía alrededor del mundo. Al comenzar el siglo XX la fotografía propuso una nueva forma de arte y de comunicación popular. En el final de este siglo los festivales y los museos de fotografía se están transformando en centros focales de la cultura popular alrededor del mundo. El FESTIVAL DE LA LUZ combina las tecnologías visuales de los siglos XIX y XX con los nuevos sistemas de comunicación del siglo XXI. FRANÇAIS -
Le FESTIVAL OF LIGHT est une collaboration international entre 20 festivals de photographie du monde. Au commencement du XX siècle, la photographie a proposée une nouvelle forme d' art et de communication populaire. Dans le final du siècle, les festivals et les musées de photographie se sont transformés dans les points de culture populaire autour du monde. Das FESTSPIEL DES LICHTES ist eine internationale mitarbeit mit 20 andere Photo Festspiele ringsherum der ganze Welt. Am anfang des 20 Jahrhunder, die Photographie schlug eine neue Kunstform so wie eine Volkstümliche mitteilung vor.Am ende dieses Jahrhundert die Photofestspiele und die verschiedene Photo Museums ringsherum der ganzen Welt verwandelten sich in wirkliche Focale zentrumen der Volkskultur. Agli inizi del Novecento la fotografia annunciò una nuova forma d'arte e di comunicazione popolare e verso la fine del XX secolo i festival ed i musei di fotografia sono diventati i punti focali della cultura popolare nel mondo. The Backlight2020 Special Call is open with theme Visual Catalysts. Projects may be submitted through the on-line application, no later than the deadline, December 31, 2019.

Backlight's open call theme Related Realities has ended. But we are happy to announce that the Backlight2020 SPECIAL CALL, curated by adjunct professor and artist Juha Suonpää, has now opened with the theme Visual Catalysts.
