The Georgia Department of Education’s Family-School Partnership Program ensures that Title I, Part A parental involvement regulations are met with meaningful and strategic actions to build parent capacity as mandated by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). Schools and districts must ensure that strong strategies are in place to: 1) build capacity to involve parents/stakeholde

rs in an effective partnership with the school; and 2) share and support high student academic achievement. Comer Elementary in Madison County and Model Elementary in Floyd County have been named Georgia’s 2022 National Distinguished Schools. These two schools will be recognized at the National ESEA Conference in Indianapolis in February, which is sponsored by the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA). A total of 69 Title I Distinguished Georgia schools from 35 LEAs were eligible to apply for this recognition. These honorees were selected from the top 5% of the Title I schools based on a combined ELA and Math Achievement Rate score from FY2021 CCRPI Content Mastery Data, and written responses to initiatives implemented that resulted in outstanding academic achievement among traditionally underserved subgroups of students. Congratulations Comer and Model Elementary Schools!
