Georgia Library PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is the public library automation and lending network for 300 libraries and service outlets in 52 library systems throughout Georgia. PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is Georgia’s “borderless library” system that allows PINES card holders free access to books and other materials in more than 275 lib

rary branch and affiliated service locations throughout the state. Every resident of Georgia is eligible to receive a free PINES library card, even if your local library system is not a member of the PINES network. Access to 9.6 million books and other materials that can be checked out from and returned to any participating library free of charge. Search the online catalog. Free delivery of books from other libraries throughout the state to your home library. Service through 252 branch libraries and more than 20 other affiliated service locations in 53 regional library systems covering 144 Georgia counties. See list of participating libraries. Ability to renew your books and place holds online. An easy-to-use Kids' Catalog that focuses exclusively on youth materials. How does the PINES team assist library staff? The PINES team assists the employees of all 53 PINES member library systems with PINES-related issues and training on the Evergreen software. We provide documentation on policies and procedures, in-person and online training opportunities, and assistance through the Help Desk. Library staff members may also subscribe to the PINES list-servs to join the always-helpful PINES community and keep up to date on issues that other PINES member libraries are facing. Verizon has shut down their SMS gateway service, which prevents PINES from sending text notifications to Verizon customers.

If you are a Verizon customer, please take a moment to update your PINES notifications preferences by either using the PINES app and allowing push notifications, or by logging into your https://gapines.org account and going to Preferences > Notifications and selecting the option to get notifications by email.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE DECEMBER 13, 6 PM

The PINES System Administration team will be performing an upgrade of PostgreSQL, the database software that supports Evergreen, on Saturday, December 13, beginning at 6 p.m. All production services will be offline during this maintenance, including third-party (SIP2) access. The maintenance is expected to be complete by midnight.
