When we see a bond like this… we can’t ignore it. It was rescue or they’d be slaughtered together too.

Now, Nixon will be with his lady Nolla forever ❤️ and… we believe she is expecting a little one sometime this year!

That will be his last offspring. When we found him at the auction he had just been gelded… and was actually still bleeding down his legs from the open wound. The castration had just been done days before the auction 💔

He was sore, swollen, and scared but STILL he was the strength for Nolla in this terrifying place.

Now they’re safe in sanctuary, together forever thanks to this incredible community 🙏🏻

One of my favorite parts about the sanctuary is watching how each horse’s unique personality develops, and watching the bonds they create within their herds. It’s a special thing to be able to observe them in a natural setting, doing all the things a wild horse enjoys ✌️

Could everyone take a moment to sign this petition? They are planning to shoot Brumbies (wild horses) in Australia from helicopters in a mass extermination….

The 2021 Draft Kosciuszko Wild Horse Management Plan proposes to kill thousands of horses through a combination of ground shooting, transporting them to knackeries to slaughter and other cruel methods. Join and call on the NSW Environment Minister to reject the Plan and instead provide....

Castro had already been sold for slaughter when we met in November. His head hung low, his eyes wide and empty.

Now? He’s king of the hill. He keeps his band close and protects them fiercely. He is a wonderful leader and example of a wild stallion’s spirit! (though he is now a gelding)

These are the transformations we live for… it’s not always physical. Sometimes the change is mental.

Castro went from captivity and fear in a human world, set to be slaughtered in days, to peace and fullness with his family living in freedom together instead ❤️

Over the weekend we welcomed a special boy, Hunk, to the Nirvana Herd 🐴

When I got the call from Stephanie that a dead friend had tragically passed away and left a mustang behind who was going to be sent to auction by the extended family handling affairs, I assured her we could take him in.

That was several weeks ago… and last weekend we came through on that promise.

Hunk is home. He won’t end up in the slaughter pipeline. He won’t end up in those auction pens, awaiting a death sentence.

He’s come straight home, to freedom, friends, and endless fields of green.

He’s settling in just fine 😌

Nature will be nature! And this fresh little filly didn’t seem to mind at all 🥰 She kept on with her nap in the beautifully warm sun no problem!

I’m not sure I would’ve felt the same….. what about you? 🤣

3 months ago their time was up. These 13 mustangs were sold directly for slaughter in February.

Luckily, we were at the auction on a rescue mission the day they were supposed to ship. We were able to stop it and bring them to sanctuary instead, thanks to the support of our incredible community.

And now? We get to enjoy watching them RUN filled with joy and finally free once again 🥰

Pluto is a small mustang mare… so her belly was incredibly obviously carrying a baby as she waited to be run through an auction where thousands of wild horses have been sold for slaughter.

Our incredible community made it possible to SAVE her instead of allowing her to experience that fate.

And yesterday… her little one was born 🥹

Saving one life from slaughter is incredible… but saving a baby who never would’ve gotten a shot at life otherwise is next level incredible ✨

Watching them explore life for the first time within our sanctuary is amazing. This little one wasn’t too sure what to think about the pond, but went right in with momma 🥰
